If you’re still looking for a place to spend your summer vacation then you will be glad to know that your search has finally ended…in Portugal! That’s right, my friends. Once you see what travelers are up to in the peninsula bound country, you’ll be wondering why you haven’t already booked your trip.

This is, of course, all under the assumption that you’re a wine lover and we know, you totally are!

So what’s the big draw, you might be wondering? Well, for anyone that likes to sip on some fine wine and soak up a view, the Douro Valley in Portugal boasts the best of both and now they’re letting you stay in a colossal sized wine barrel that overlooks the fertile, undulating vineyards there!

Welcome to Quinta da Pacheca, a gorgeous wine estate with a history stretching as far back as 280 years that wants to invite you to check out one of their most-loved features; their wine barrel suites.

Each gargantuan wine barrel measures out at just shy of 100-feet-long and boasts everything a traveler could need including a round double bed, a full bathroom complete with a walk-in shower stall, and even has a private wardrobe!

Not only that, but the barrels also come with dreamy skylights and your own private patio where you can taste of the grape that came right from the vineyard in front of you. Of course, they also come equipped with Wi-Fi for all your Instagramming needs and air conditioning to keep you cool while you’re at it, as reported by The Sun.

Even if you aren’t much a fan of table wines, which we find hard to believe, you still might find yourself enjoyably in your cups with a glass of their world-famous Port Wine.

If you’re wondering whether traveling to Portugal for their wine is worth it, you can rest easy knowing that you’re in the hands of some of the most experienced winemakers on the planet. Douro’s history with wine-crafting dates back to the fall of the Western Roman Empire between the 3rd and 4th centuries A.D. and was the first country in the world to become formally established as a wine region.

Quinta da Pacheca promises the wine-loving traveler “an idyllic and romantic setting” within the hotel vineyards and with the wine barrel rooms “providing a unique experience of contact with nature and the monumental reality of the Douro Wine Region. Unique moments of rest await you in an environment of rurality.”

With a luring statement like that, can you really say you wouldn’t want to stay here?

One of the best features of staying in the wine barrel rooms that straddle the vineyards is that the majestic experience is actually affordable! A one night stay is roughly $210 dollars, or $228 dollars with breakfast thrown in.

Connoisseurs will feel right at home in the over-sized wine barrels as they macerate themselves in the heart of wine culture.

As described by one of the wine estate’s representatives, the barrel rooms are a unique way to continue cultivating a sense of originality to the traditional values of wine-tourism.

“Quinta da Pacheca created the wine barrels as a bold architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site. In an idyllic romantic setting, these wine barrel rooms will provide visitors a unique experience to the nature and significance of the Douro wine region,” he explains to The Metro.

The majestic, sweeping views of Douro’s vineyards and the intoxicatingly complex flavor of the wines are enough to make you want to never leave, and thanks to The Wine House restaurant located on-site, you really never have to.

The restaurant hosts a “varied and tempting menu” offering up all the flavors of the land that are traditionally found in Portuguese cuisine and, trust us, you can have full confidence in their wine pairing recommendations; they’ve been at it for centuries!

If a stay in a gigantic wine barrel somehow doesn’t appeal to your travel tastes, you can rest easy knowing they have that covered, too.

Quinta da Pancheca is also home to The Wine House Hotel which offers up a number of room types, from their standard double rooms to the more luxurious “superior” double rooms. They also have “romantic” private double rooms situated separately from the main hotel.

It seems that this little Portuguese gem has a dream-dwelling for everyone. Of course, all that delicious wine doesn’t hurt, either.
