One elderly woman named Agnes was stuck in a terrible situation. For years a relative of hers had been taking advantage of her and her home and leaving junk in her home. By the time she was ninety, her house had become cluttered, with many of the metal items rusting. Along with that, her house was in a similar state of disarray- broken roof, no AC, and it had gotten so bad that animals were coming around often.

Then the neighbors complained.

The city threatened to fine the old woman $2,500 every day if she didn’t clean her home but there was no way she could clean the place on her own. Without anyone she could turn to personally in her life, she decided to ask Operation Blessing, an organization that is“dedicated to demonstrating God’s love by alleviating human need and suffering in the United States and around the world,” for help. The Christian-based organization is known for their humanitarian efforts in times of crisis and they knew they needed to get Agnes and her home into better shape.

The organization immediately sprang to action. Agnes and the team agreed to have her backyard cleared, along with tearing down her broken shed and trailer that was also on her property. However, the team decided to do even more than what was agreed. Along with the agreed fixes, they also fixed her roof, and, with the help of Regent University volunteers, they also placed a new pathway to the front of her home, built a new flower bed, cleaned out her shed, and provided her with a brand new air conditioner.

Agnes was absolutely stunned at the way her home looked. The new path they had paved for her made it easy for her to be wheeled into her door, and the new AC would make a world of difference in the painful summer heat. The elderly young woman looked relieved from all of the debris and clutter in her home finally gone and the roof to her home fixed.

The amazing organization saved a woman from debt and stress in a way that is hard to measure in a tangible figure. We’re absolutely stunned at the amount of pain that was lifted from Agnes face!

We hope that Agnes is enjoying the AC system this summer, and we can’t wait to see what Operation Blessing does next!
