Demi Lovato is one of our favorite actresses, so needless to say, we were really excited when she appeared on The Tonight Show a few years ago. Jimmy Fallon, the current host of the show, has all kinds of cool games he likes to play with his guests to get them out of their comfort zone and entertain the audience. We were so curious to see what he had in store for Demi.
Jimmy decided to challenge her to a game of random musical impressions.
“We’re going to take turns pressing this button right here which activates the musical impressions generator,” Jimmy told her.
“It will land on one random singer that we can do impressions of and one random song title.”

Whoever’s turn it was would have to do an impression of that singer doing that song.
Of course, Jimmy encouraged Demi to go first. The wheel landed on the artist Cher and the song was “Bingo Was His Name-O”. It was an excellent combination. The band started playing and Demi immediately started singing the classic children’s tune in her best Cher voice.

It was one of the most hilarious things we’ve ever seen.
She tried to make her voice as deep as possible, and the way she forcefully enunciated all the letters of Bingo was simply perfect. While it wasn’t the most accurate impression ever, it was one of the most humorous.

Next, it was Jimmy’s turn.
The wheel of musical impressions landed on Louis Armstrong doing the song “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood”. Jimmy gave it his best shot and it totally cracked Demi up.
We would say he sounded more like the Cookie Monster than Mr. Rogers, but that’s alright. It was a game without prizes, and the only real goal was laughter. In that regard, their impressions were a total success.

Other amazing combinations that they both got to do included Fetty Wap singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” Dave Matthews singing “I’m A Little Teapot”, and Christina Aguilera singing “Spongebob Squarepants”.
All of their attempts were incredibly funny, but the best one by far was Demi singing the Spongebob theme song.

Instead of trying to be too silly on it, she did her best to really sing, and she knocked it out of the park. We never realized how amazing her voice is, but Demi is actually quite gifted in that regard.
Her shocking performance had Jimmy jumping out of his seat.
“Oh my goodness! That is unbelievable! Game over, I can’t top that,” Jimmy exclaimed.

We wish Jimmy would do the wheel of musical impressions game with every celebrity he invites on his show. Yet, at least we got to see Demi Lovato play. It was so cool to witness her getting a little goofy and letting her hair down a little bit. And we have to say, it was so much more fun than another boring interview about movie roles or who is dating who or some other Hollywood drama.
It’s part of the reason The Tonight Show has had such a long-running history of success. For over 60 years now, the various hosts have always found new and entertaining ways to branch out from the standard interview format, and for that, we thank them.
