It can be pretty embarrassing when you send something to the wrong person. Many relationships have been harmed by someone meaning to send something to their significant other, but accidentally sending it to their parents. You may think this is the worst possible scenario, but take it from me, it is way worse the other way around!

When youโ€™re sending out wedding invites to over 200 guests the way that Cassie Warren and fiancรฉ Jesse Jones were, you had better check those addresses! When they sent out an invite to their Eugene-based Aunt and Uncle in Oregon, it could have just slipped away into obscurityโ€ฆ

โ€ฆbut it didnโ€™t. In fact, it came back, and not JUST the invite!

The incorrect address was only about 20 minutes from where the married couple to-be were living, but a wrong address is a wrong address.

The couple are massive Harry Potter and Star Wars fans, and the wedding announcement they sent out depicted Jesse wearing a Darth Vader shirt holding a lightsaber, and Cassie in wearing a Hogwarts shirt and wielding a wand. I guess theyโ€™re peeps in the streets, and geeks with Google Sheets. Or maybe if theyโ€™d used Google Sheets they could have kept better track of their guestโ€™s addresses.

So when the invitation returned to their mailbox, they had a few surprises in store.

It wasnโ€™t an RSVP, but rather a response to the inviteโ€ฆfrom a stranger. The message however didnโ€™t say anything to the effect of โ€œDelete this address and never contact me againโ€, in fact it said quite the opposite:

โ€œI wish I knew you- this is going to be a blast. Congratulations- go have dinner on me. Iโ€™ve been married for 40 years- it gets better with age.โ€

The envelope included $20 for the couple to have dinner as a gift. Well, if thatโ€™s not a pleasant stranger, I donโ€™t know what is.

And doesnโ€™t that penmanship just read โ€œFriendlyโ€?

But of course, how friendly do you have to be to go out of your way to respond, not only with kind words, but with a crisp $20?

The couple have commented on the whole experience and what the response meant to them.

Cassie told Koin 6 news:

โ€œIt was super awesome because not many people would take the time to return something in general, and let alone take the time to write a note and send it back and yโ€™know, use their own postageโ€

True Cassie, most people would probably happily toss a miss-addressed invite in the trashโ€ฆ

โ€ฆand not just to respond, but to consider them enough to send back some cold hard cash to wish them a marriage meal.

Jesse elaborated on their experience of how the story has meant some time in the limelight:

โ€œItโ€™s mind blowing, just how something small like this gets blown upโ€

In the end, the invite did get to the intended Aunt and Uncle, and not just that, but the responder has beenโ€ฆrespondedโ€ฆto. Since Cassie and Jesse already knew their address, they were able to write back to them and thank them for their lovely response and generous spirit.
