Being a waiter is not an easy job. A lot of people assume that it is and because of that, servers are often taken advantage of. While there are some benefits of the job, they also work overtime, rely on tips, and deal with a lot of rude people.
It takes true skill and talent to be a server, despite what some people may think! You have to be a great listener to get customers’ orders right, you have to have the physical stamina, and not to mention, you have to have the coordination to carry several plates at once without dropping them so your table can get their orders on time.
This one waiter proved that being a waiter has its downfalls, literally, when he took a nasty tumble while carrying not one, not two, not three… But four plates of food. Wow!
Jamie Shoebridge is 24-years-old and has been waiting tables for three years now. His experience definitely showed when he nearly dropped the dishes but managed to save every single one. That is only a feat that a professional can take on!
He might even want to consider taking on a job as a professional juggler because he clearly proved that he would be great at it.
Shoebridge slipped on some peppercorn sauce and it was all down hill from there.
Shoebridge’s unfortunate fall came at an understandable time — during the lunch rush. Naturally, things around that time are more hectic than usual and people are moving around the restaurant at lightning speed. It also doesn’t help that there was some peppercorn sauce on the floor, which he slipped on.
CCTV cameras captured the whole moment as it went down.
When his foot made contact with the sauce, obviously there was no friction to keep him from gliding. The camera captured the whole moment as it went down. Even though the food was okay, the waiter did manage to take down a plant in the moment.
Miraculously, he salvaged all of the four plates he was holding. The plate in his left hand was held steady while the other three that were balancing on his right arm somehow made it. Talk about a miracle!
“One minute I was walking along with the plates and the next minute I was on the floor,” Shoebridge said. “I lost my footing and fell down face first.
“There was some peppercorn sauce on the floor and I slipped on it. It’s all a blur and I’m not sure how it happened. It was just an instinct to lift my arms up and try to save the plates. I just got back up and carried on as normal.”
It looked like a nasty, very dramatic fall, but because all of the plates were safe, there was no reason not to carry on. So that is exactly what Shoebridge did — he carried on as usual, served the food to the hungry guests, and they never knew a thing.
