This is the story of Florida resident Jim Langdon, who was once a young soldier serving in the Vietnam War.
In 1972, during a brief rest period in Thailand, Jim crossed paths with a local woman, and what started as a fleeting encounter quickly blossomed into a deep connection.

However, life in the military meant Jim couldn’t stay in Thailand for long.
He was called back to the United States, leaving behind not just the woman he loved but also the unborn son he would never meet.

Jim’s son, John Hermann, had turned to Ancestory.com, and eventually found a puzzle piece he’d spent years searching for – his father.
Turns out, John had moved to the United States with his mom and stepdad when he was four.
So little did Jim know, his long-lost son was closer than he ever realized.
Jim told WEAR:
“After so many years, I just thought that there was no way to find my son. Let alone find out he’s here in the states and that his mother is still alive.”
Their first meeting was nothing short of extraordinary.
