Who doesn’t love a hard worker? Someone who goes above and beyond to ensure that a job is done properly and in a timely manner is a rare and priceless find.

Those who work at jobs where timeliness is everything are sure to feel the pressure. Particularly, those whose job is to make sure customers receive their orders on time and in prime condition. It may not be the most desired job but that old saying is true, somebody has to do it.

Being a delivery driver may be a thankless job but their impact is felt everywhere around the world. Whether a package is delivered on time and handled with care or suffers some scrapes and bruises along the way, their impact is sure to be felt.

However, around the holidays, the urgency to get packages delivered on time and intact is imperative. There are millions of last-minute shoppers. According to Customer Growth Partners, one single day this year, the Saturday before Christmas, set a record of $34.4 billion for retail spending!

That’s four times the sales from this year’s Cyber Monday!

It’s safe to say that many people felt the pressure this year as it was a shortened holiday season. There were six days less this year between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Yikes! With all of those packages being shipped, it must be difficult to get each and every package delivered on time.

But there was one very determined and thoughtful UPS worker who went above and beyond to ensure his customers received their holiday gifts on time. Even if it meant possibly injuring himself in the process.

In a video captured on a customer’s security camera, the driver slides a box across a dangerously slippery driveway. He walks carefully behind it. He grabs ahold onto the bar attached to his truck for balance after he realizes that he isn’t going to be able to walk without falling.

The ice is so slick that the ice patches across the driveway can be seen in the video. It’s evident that this driver won’t be able to make it up the driveway and to the front door.

The owner of the house, Walt Gorczowski, came out to greet the struggling delivery man. He wrote about the incident in the video’s caption:

“I heard the UPS truck pull up so I opened the garage and told him to just leave the package at the sidewalk and I’d figure out a way to get it,”

Instead of heeding Gorczowski’s advice, the man planted his foot onto the back of his truck and sprang off of it, sending him and the package across the ice. The package safely makes it to Gorczowski, who can be seen in the video.

The driver lays on his stomach ensuring the package makes it to its destination. Once it does, he gives the ‘thumbs up’ signal and scootches back to his truck.

It’s a funny sight but you can’t help but feel a little bad for the guy. Where’s the salt for the driveway?!

Gorczowski wrote, “Above and beyond… this guy is awesome.”

The video has over 5 million views and has many viewers commenting on the dedication of the driver.

“He definitely needs a raise, my respects to that guy.”

“You can’t train employees to have that level of care. That’s just a beautiful human.”

“Hopefully that box was full of salt you ordered for your driveway.”

It’s so nice to see others swooping in to praise this guy for taking such a risk for a delivery. Hopefully, he received that raise and a nice gift from Santa!
