On an episode of the Ukrainian X-Factor, everyone seemed skeptical when a 27-year-old woman announced she’d be singing, “I Will Always Love You.” The best part though? Within moments she was able to prove why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
Get ready for an unforgettable audition that’s been viewed more than 14 million times. Not only does the contestant have an amazing voice – it’s always fun to see the underdogs score a point sometimes too.
She chose to shoot high.
There have been numerous contestants on shows like The Voice and the Got Talent series who have taken on Whitney Houston’s rendition of “I Will Always Love You.” From kids to adults, you gotta give credit to those who have been able to rock the classic, because it’s not an easy song to perform by any means.
The woman in the video below also decided to audition with The Bodyguard tune. However, adding in the fact that it was different than her primary language seems it would be more of a difficult feat.
Seeing the looks on their faces said it all.
After a brief interview, the contestant reveals her song choice to the judges and crowd. Let’s just say she was getting some funny responses in return.
Even audience members seemed to be wearing their true feelings on their sleeves. It’s as if they were doubting her abilities even before she attempted to sing a note.
Finally, the woman unleashed her voice – and it was beautiful.
All it took was the first lines of “I Will Always Love You” for the facial expressions around the auditorium to change. As it turns out, she actually has the kind of voice that leaves your body in shivers.
But could she sing the epic high notes?
“I Will Always Love You” is a country ballad written by Dolly Parton in 1973. While she too had great success with the song, it was Whitney Houston’s 1992 pop-version that exploded on the music scene.
The contestant had everyone on pins and needles as she neared the first chorus of the song, only to skip over it. But then her voice gained power as she got closer to the most intense part of “I Will Always Love You.”
On cue, the woman belted out the famous lines and completely nailed them.
Likely everyone’s goosebumps had goosebumps – she’s just that good. In addition, it’s easy to see that even the judges are awestruck by the woman’s talent.
While we don’t know exactly what was said to her afterwards, it seems like she’s given praises and moved to the next round of the show.
What we do know, however, is that people all over the world have watched her audition and left positive comments on YouTube.
