This is probably one of the cutest videos of twins we’ll ever see. Babies rocking out to Johnny Cash in their Jolly Jumpers!
But what are Jolly Jumpers exactly?
Invented in 1910 by Susan Olivia Poole, it was mass-produced for selling by 1948 and is known around the world as “The Original Baby Exerciser.” Olivia had accidentally invented the first Jolly Jumper when she got busy and could not attend to her baby just yet. She created a makeshift swing with a cloth diaper, ax handle, and steel spring and the rest is history.
She created a Jolly Jumper again in 1948 for her grandchildren. The Jolly Jumper was eventually patented in 1957. Olivia got the idea from her days being raised at the White Earth Indian Reserve in Minnesota. Mothers at the reserve had a practice where they used swing systems to keep babies occupied while they worked.
Thank goodness there are Jolly Jumpers to save mommies and daddies from their baby’s excessive jumping and unlimited energy
70 years later, moms and dads all over the world are grateful for the convenience of Jolly Jumpers.
Mommies love Jolly Jumpers because of three reasons.
One, your baby will have a different view of the world and they’ll be free to look around wherever they want. When they’re in a sling or carried by their parent, they are only limited to seeing what’s in front of them. And it only changes when the parent changes it. Yes, this is the first taste of independence your baby will have.
Two, once your baby gets used to operating a Jolly Jumper, it will be the source of endless amusement and laughter. And it’s not just for the baby, they’ll infect their parents, their family, and the people around them. Jolly Jumper = Happy Laughing Baby.
Three, this one is more for the parent or whoever is taking care of the baby at that moment. You’ve suddenly got two free hands.
And there are two more reasons to love Jolly Jumpers. They help develop leg muscles and strengthen them before the baby can start training to walk. And because it helps the parent (or whoever is taking care of the baby) entertain the baby without getting tired easily, the baby can sleep easily and quickly during the night.
And, of course, as with every object, there could be downsides to the Jolly Jumper also. Experts say that these devices make it difficult for their locomotive development to develop naturally. Instead of naturally evolving from rolling to sitting to crawling to standing to walking, babies skip development steps when placed in a Jolly Jumper too often.
As for these adorable twin boys the combination of Jolly Jumpers and Johnny Cash is a total win. They look like little rock stars themselves bouncing around listening to the “man in black” himself.
Reese and Levi are listening to “Folsom Prison Blues’ in the background and it turns out to have the most fitting beat for their adorable jumps.
They look like little cowboys themselves as the ride along to the rhythm.
Watch these two adorable cuties have the time of their lives. Who knew the mixture of Jolly Jumpers and Johnny Cash could be so much fun?
