Makeover shows are always fun to watch, but it’s even doubly so when identical twins are involved!
When a pair of lookalike sisters were plucked from the TODAY show plaza for a surprise Fourth of July makeover, they were ready for something new instead of their usual copycat style.
But, that’s what surprise head-to-toe Ambush Makeovers are for!
Pennie Mutschler and Candy LaPlante flew to New York City to celebrate their birthday, and without knowing ahead of time what the other had planned, the sisters accidentally picked the same outfit to wear to the show!
They also sported the same mousy brown haircut, and not surprisingly, the two sisters work in the exact same field.
The twins were standing next to each other with their 80’s throwback looks.
Hairstylist to the stars Louis Licara couldn’t wait to team up with TODAY contributor and style goddess, Jill Martin, to help these two lovely ladies celebrate their birthday in style.
Up first is Candy a 52-year-old accountant from Sebastian, Florida. Since she works from home, there hasn’t really been a need for her to change her hairstyle, which she’s had for over 30 years.
Candy has always dreamed of looking like a knockout, she just had no idea what that even entailed. Lucky for her, makeover mavens Louis and Jill most certainly did, and they were armed and ready with scissors, makeup brushes, and a flowery summer dress!
When she first walked out onto the stage, Candy hadn’t seen herself in the mirror and had no idea just how stunning her transformation truly was.
Louis knew exactly what he was doing when he decided to lighten Candy’s hair and added a few shimmery highlights. He kept her hair length to frame her pretty face, but with a few well-placed layers, she walked away with an elegant new style.
This formerly mousy accountant is now a knockout beauty who looks at least a decade younger than her 52 years!
Pennie Mutschler is a 52-years-young grandmother from Houston, Texas. She has two sons and one grandson, and like her twin sibling, Pennie runs her own tax accounting firm.
She’s had the same hairdo that her sister Candy used to wear, has never dyed her hair, and rarely wears makeup. This makes Pennie exactly the sort of gal that makeover teams love to transform into butterflies!
For her stunning makeover, Louis clipped off some of her shoulder-length locks and said,
“The tip is, after 40, soft and natural.”
Whereas her sister Candy wore a fitted dress, Pennie donned a pair of hot skinny jeans and a black, shoulder-bearing top that gave her curves in all the right places.
At this point, the twins had seen their own reflection in the mirror and were overjoyed at what they saw. But, with their backs to each other, they still didn’t know what their identical half looked like.
After Candy and Pennie spun around, they pointed at each other and giggled. They were no longer two peas in a pod!
Candy and Pennie will always share the same birthday, but these twins are now as different as night and day. With their stunning transformation complete, these twin siblings now stand out in a crowd for all the right reasons.
