Who doesn’t know Tom Hanks? From his movies to his Hollywood career, he is someone to definitely look up to but did you know people aren’t just envious of his career but with his love story as well?
Did you know that Tom and his wife Rita Wilson just celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary? Yes, you’re reading it correctly and it’s definitely not a typo. For more than three decades, Tom and Rita have shown the world that their love was true.
Their love story started when they first met in the early 1980s while Tom was starring in the ABC sitcom Bosom Buddies.
“Rita and I just looked at each other and — kaboing — that was that. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied,” Hanks shared with his GQ interview.
For those who have seen their movies – you just can’t deny that chemistry!
Though, at first, it was a tough situation as Tom was still married to his first wife Samantha Lewes. Tom and his first wife married at a very young age, admittedly, Tom said that he wasn’t ready to take the responsibility of being a father and a husband. Their divorce was finalized last 1987.
31 Years of Marriage
A year after his divorce, Tom and Rita decided to tie the knot last 1988 and fast forward to today – they are still going strong together.

Tom has two sons Chester and Truman with wife Rita and one son, Colin and a daughter, Elizabeth with his ex-wife.
Tom Hanks is best known for his role in Forrest Gump to which he won an Oscar. In his speech, he said:
“I am standing here because the woman I share my life with has taught me and demonstrates for me every day just what love is.”
The secret to their “untouchable” marriage
Most of us would already be asking, what’s the secret to this beautiful marriage? Well, many have asked this question to this couple and Tom’s reply is an eye-opener.
“I wish there was a secret, you know,” Hanks, now 63, shares with People.
“They say it must be hard work. No, it’s not,” Hanks said. “Every now and again you know, you gotta get over some stuff but life is one damn thing after another and its actually more pleasant to be able to go home with someone you like to spend time with in order to get with it.”
