The toddler in this viral video is not someone to mess with. You would be well-advised not to mess with anyone in his family either, lest you want a thrashing.
He was caught on camera in quite the confrontation with members of China’s urban management teams, the Chengguan.
On-lookers to this adorable situation couldn’t help but laugh at the little protective guy. The toddler clearly found nothing funny about the situation, however.
To him, everything was as serious as can be.
That just made everything even funnier, however.

Toddlers can be protective of their grandmas.
The Chengguan are tasked with cracking down on unlicensed vendors in urban areas. Street vendors operating without a license is a common practice in many urban areas.
In China, though, the Chengguan have a reputation akin to “bullying.”

“My roadside stall is just for raising my family. I do not have enough money to open a formal store and don’t have the skills to find an office job. A roadside stall is my only choice. When the chengguan chase us, we have no choice but to run away. No business means no money. How can we survive in Beijing without money?” – Wang Dama, a street vendor near Sanlitun, Beijing said to WorldofChinese.com.

Clearly, this toddler intends to keep the Chengguan away from his Granny.
He flails his arms and legs around in windmill-like fashion to show-off just how afraid of him the Chengguan should be.

The funniest part about it is that the little tyke is successful.
As the Chengguan continue to occupy the area of his grandmother’s stall, the toddler attempts to push them back by moving toward them with his legs kicking out in front of him.
All the while, on-lookers laugh at just how serious the little guy is hoping everyone else will take him.

Then he breaks out a big pipe.
Perhaps sensing that the Chengguan are not taking him as seriously as they should, the toddler eventually breaks out a weapon.
He brings out a long pipe, which he might have been using to show the Chengguan how much distance they need to keep from his grandmother.
Eventually, the toddler just chucks the pipe in the Chengguans’ direction.

Video of this defensive little grandson has been viewed almost 13 million times.
Many viewers have felt compelled to leave messages in the comment section.

The global pandemic changed the nature of China’s relationship with street vendors.
Now, there is talk of China embracing “Hawkers,” as they are known, in order to aid with post-pandemic economic recovery. This means the Chengguan are not authorized to prevent them from setting up their stalls anymore.
Finally, the little toddler in this video could rest easy knowing his grandma is free from harassment.
