When Roy and Katherine Merritt of The Painted Home Co. decided to build their first tiny home, they pulled out all of the stops. Called the Baby Boomer, this tiny home features a wide range of amenities, including a bed that lowers into place using a pulley system.

The entryway to the tiny home gives you a good feel for the spacious area that the house encompasses. The hardwood floors and plank ceiling give the space a homey feel. As you walk in you find a large cabinet area containing the washer and dryer combo and a clothes closet.

The bathroom, while small, does contain a corner shower and a vanity to help you get ready in the morning. Over the top of the bathroom area is an additional loft that you can use for separate storage or as an additional sleeping area.

The Kitchen

The tiny home’s kitchen contains a variety of items designed to make living in the home easier. This includes the good-sized refrigerator, which is actually included in the same cabinet area where you find the washer and dryer. Tucked in beside the refrigerator is a small, slide-out pantry.

For cleaning up, you have a stainless steel apron sink. The small size of the sink allowed the builders to save space when they installed it. Unlike a conventional sink, the front edge of an apron sink is actually exposed, allowing you to install it into a smaller space.

The home also contains a convection microwave and, in an effort to save the space a cooktop stove would take up, a two-burner induction plate. This allows you to store away your cooking space when you no longer need it.

Here is another view of the kitchen area. As you can see, the cabinets containing the washer and dryer sit right next to the refrigerator and pull-out pantry. Further back you can see a small eating area.

This small bar area, pictured in more detail in the photo above, utilizes two stools that take up little space but still give you a surface to eat your meals on. A large window also gives diners a nice view outside the home while they are enjoying their meals.

The Living Area

For relaxation, the tiny home has a living space with a small sectional sofa where you can sit and watch TV. When its bedtime, this area magically transforms into the tiny home’s main sleeping area.

During the day, the bed hangs out of the way overhead. The bed features a pulley system that you can use to pull the bed down when it is time to go to sleep. A genius idea, this feature is what gives the tiny home the name the Baby Boomer.

Once pulled down into place, the bed sits comfortably over the sectional sofa below. Best of all, the TV is still viewable, allowing you to watch TV while in bed, making it the perfect home for TV lovers.

All of these features make this the perfect tiny home for anyone who wants to live small but still enjoy the comforts of a regular-sized home.
