Some kids are able to demonstrate impressive dance skills when they’re young. For those of us not quite so talented – it’s understandable that our jaws drop watching from the sidelines.
Bella Gonzales was only four-years-old taking the stage to perform her solo in front of a crowd. In no time she left everyone awestruck.
Some people are born to dance, and little Bella’s one of them.
The performance took place at the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge in Redondo Beach, California. Bella walked into the spotlights wearing a golden yellow outfit that sparkled.
Her routine was set to a rendition of the childhood classic, “You Are My Sunshine” (which was why Bella’s costume seemed perfect).
As the music began to play, she went into action.
Bella moved with beauty and grace during the routine, looking like a dancing doll. She wowed the audience showing her flexibility as well.
According to Bella’s biography on The Movement Talent Agency site:
“She started dancing at Studio 1 Dance Academy and began competing at the tender age of 3. She actively trains in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical and tap. She has placed in overalls and received several judges awards since her beginnings in competition dance.”
It doesn’t take long to realize how amazingly talented she is. Really, just four-years-old?
The song in the background, “You Are My Sunshine” really makes the performance complete. It’s a slow and soulful version by musician Jasmine Thompson.
Bella dances to the heart-tugging lyrics:
“The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping – I dreamed I held you in my arms. But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken – And I hung my head and I cried.”
“You Are My Sunshine” was popularized in 1939 by Charles Mitchell and Jimmie Davis. Over the decades it’s been covered by many famous artists including Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, and Carly Simon.
For Bella’s solo, Thompson’s rendition was a beautiful touch.
Besides being able to dance elegantly, she proved to everyone that she’s a gymnast too. The combination had everyone mesmerized from beginning to end.
Some of Bella’s moves even played along with the words of the song. She herself was like a shining star.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine – You make me happy when skies are grey. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you – Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
The audience cheered for Bella when her routine came to a close. Despite being so young, she was able to take everyone’s breath away with her skills.
Overall, Bella received positive results for her performance (which was choreographed by Ms. Juliet Frishette). She actually placed first in the Little League Solo category!
The internet too has been impressed by Bella’s act. Many people believe that she has a bright future ahead when it comes to dancing.
