Children are filled with innocence. They have no sense of bias or strong favoritism. All they see is the goodness in people.
When 2-year-old Eli Boddy was taken to a football game by his dad, he was just meant to watch the game.
Little did he know that something spectacular was about to happen that day. On the way to the field, Eli and his father came across six Titans. The men slapped hands with the enthusiastic boy.
Wesley Woodyard, Titans linebacker, picked up the little boy. At first, he was worried about scaring the boy. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case.
“He was a good little kid. As soon as I picked him up, he started talking to me so that was pretty cool.” – he said.
And the interesting part?
Eli was actually a huge Lions fan. He was even wearing a shirt supporting the team.
Although it’s a competitive game, Football can bring people together. It doesn’t discriminate based on age or even color.
Woodyard said:
“I have a son, and it just touched my heart, seeing the kid there. That’s the thing about this game of football, it allows us to bring each other together. It doesn’t matter about the skin color, race, or anything, money. We are all the same, we all enjoy Sundays, and to me that was special, seeing the kid in the tunnel.”
Eli’s father was so overwhelmed with what he witnessed that day. He made it a point to show his appreciation to the team and their effort to make his little Eli happy.
He shared:
“Eli had quite the special day. It’s the little things that will leave a lasting memory! Thank you Wesley Woodyard for taking a moment to show my little football fan some extra love! This video will forever make me smile!”
The fun didn’t end there.
Eli’s day wasn’t clearly done yet. During the game, tight end Delanie Walker scored a touchdown. He gave the ball to the little guy who was clearly happy with it.
Eli’s mom was quite overwhelmed with what happened, too. She happily thanked the team on social media.
She shared:
“My little guy wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Delanie Walker, giving him the game ball will be something he will never forget! My husband took my son to the game and the kindness that was shown to my son by multiple Titans players was an amazing representation of what great men and athletes this team has! So again thank you, he might be little but he has such a love for watching sports and can not wait to play them! And although he is a Lions fan, I have a feeling he’ll be wearing a Walker jersey to cheer on the Titans whenever they play!”
It doesn’t take a lot to make a kid smile. The experience of meeting such a huge team, even if it’s the opposing team, is something he’ll surely treasure growing up.
