Three students from Lindenhurst High School entered the talent show unknowing whether they were simply looking for a good time, or if they were really in it to win. Judging from the video, they have all the appearances of skilled moves and sharp choreography. But it also doesn’t take long to see that out of everyone in the room, they are having the most fun.

And it’s because they know they are about to make everyone roar in laughter.

The music starts and the expressionless faces leave everyone guessing as to what they have up their sleeves. The sound of hip-hop artist Drake fills the room and everyone waits in anticipation as the students start tapping their feet on stage. Suddenly they raise their bowed heads and stare seriously into the audience.

But the moment clearly doesn’t stay serious for long.

The audience is already in a wave of cheers as they watch the teenagers swing their hips with a knowing expression. They know the opportunities to share their humor and get the spotlight in front of the whole school may be few and far between, so they take their chance.

The students, Matt, Sebastian and Jacob are all upperclassmen at Lindenhurst High School when this particular talent show took place. Fortunately, it became an unforgettable moment that the students would leave their high school career with. At Lindenhurst High School, where there is a strong program for Polish students residing in the Long Island, New York area, they decided to capitalize on this too.

Hilariously, the Polish students titled themselves the ‘Three Poles Dancing.’

In this day and age, it’s normal to see teenagers dancing on social media platforms, generating hundreds and thousands of views from people across the world. There’s no doubt that given the opportunity, many of them would like to show off their prowess in real life. But with a dance compilation like this one, few could do it as successfully as Matt, Sebastian and Jacob.

But it’s not all pop and hip-hop hits that you would hear on social media today. Every once in a while, the students threw in an older (yet still beloved) hit like “A Thousand Miles,” by Vanessa Carlton. When the familiar piano strains resound, a chuckle ripples through the entire crowd. They even go further back into the pop music era and bust out, “What Is Love” by Haddaway.

They knew exactly what they were doing with their music choices.

And remember how they began their performance with a comedic display of hip-swinging? Well they take it up a notch when Shakira’s classic hit “Hips Don’t Lie” starts to play. If it seems like this would be a dance compilation to steal the night, then maybe the students were in it to win it after all, because steal the night is exactly what they did.

“I apologize for the camera quality at some points and the focus too. We ended up winning,” Jacob writes.

After you see Matt, Sebastian and Jacob in action, you won’t be surprised at all to know that they ended up winning first place. It’s apparent that the boys were three friends looking for a good time, but the effect has been so much more far reaching. With over a million and a half views on YouTube, the students have made viewers crack a smile all around the world at this point. And for a high school career highlight, that’s not bad at all.
