Oh man, these dishes were heavy as a child! Grandma would serve up the jell-o in these, when she was feeling fancy. It was always a treat.
3. Gotcha!
When you thought you could sneak a cookie, but think again! This was her stash box of sewing tools instead. It was always a let down to open that cookie container.
4. Nightmares
The wooden decor that filled grandma’s hallways were stuff of nightmares! They animal faces were never happy and almost looked as if they were looking directly at you. Why did grandmas think these were cute?
5. Ouch!
These carpet protecters were toe destroyers! When you were running too fast and your foot would get caught underneath, it was game over. Just looking at the picture hurts my toes!
6. Judges
When you would stay over at your grandma’s, the only station allowed during the day was television shows with judges! That was grandma’s T.V. time.

The toy most kids remember from their grandma’s house was some type of Fisher Price set. It was the first toy given to the oldest grandchild, but used by every grandkid that followed! The oldest grandkid could have been 30 by the time the youngest was 2, it did not matter, that toy set was still being played with!
8. Hot Pads
Grandma’s hot pads were always a woven design. The colors and designs might be different but it was always the same material. One thing is for sure, they worked well!
9. Crock Pot
Grandma’s crock pot was used all the time, but it was the most ancient looking crock pot you had ever seen! It did not matter though because whatever grandma was cooking in it was going to be a delicious.
10. Chair and Stool
This chair and stool combo could always be found somewhere at grandma’s house, usually in the kitchen! As a toddler this chair could get dangerous, but that did not stop grandmas from keeping them out.
11. Crackers and Cheese
The large plates that grandmas all used for appetizers was always tin with old floral decorations. Where did they all buy these?
12. Ribbon Candy
The ribbon candy was always hard and probably years old, but it was always out in a bowl! Grandkids knew it was never the best candy, but it did not stop them from eating it every time they went to grandma’s house.

An old stationary bike could be found in a random room it does not belong in. Grandkids have never seen their grandma actually use it, but they get on it for fun!

The magnets on grandma’s fridge are overwhelming! There is not a square inch of her fridge that does not have a magnet on it.

You can always depend on grandma’s house having all the sauces from every fast food! This was because she made you be the one to take them from the restaurant!

Grandma’s television doubled as furniture and would have decor on top of it at times. This was key when watching shows while sitting on the carpet, it was straight eye level!

The old picture frames with pictures of ancestors was always creepy as a child! Those old photographs of family members we did not know was at every grandma’s house.

Grandma’s t.v. trays were always amazing, when she let you use them that is! Grandma did not like grandkids eating anywhere but the kitchen table. So, why did she have so many t.v. trays?

It was not just any type of throat drops, it was Luden’s Wild Cherry Throat Drops! Sneaking some of these was like stealing candy, they tasted just like it.
25. Pin Cushion
Grandma’s pin cushion was a staple at every grandma’s house. You were not allowed to touch it, but some times would push a sewing needle in and out when you could.
26. Grandma’s Vanity
Grandma’s dresser always had cute trinket boxes that held her jewelry. It was always fun to look at her vanity and the pretty boxes with her jewelry inside.
27. Glass Containers
These glass containers with a 1970s decor could always be found in a grandma’s pantry. Most of the time they were full with food too!
28. Kellogg’s Cereal
It was never made clear why grandma had Kellogg brand cereal bowls, but for some unknown reason she did! Where did all the grandma’s go to get these, was it a secret Kellogg club?
29. Garfield
Grandma had a thing for Garfield or it at least seemed that way! Grandma’s house always had a big collection of Garfield comic books to read, even if you had already read them a million times before.
30. Duster
Looking back on our childhood, it probably was not the greatest that all grandkids would play with grandma’s duster. That duster had been around forever, it must have been way dirtier than we all realized at the time!
31. No Touching!
Grandma always had towels in the bathroom that no one was allowed to touch! Those towels were for decoration purposes only, everyone had to dry there hands somewhere else.
32. Brass Decor
Every grandma would have some type of brass decoration in at least one room. Whatever that brass decoration was, all we remember about it was how heavy it was! That decor could seriously hurt someone if thrown!
33. Angels
Grandma would also have some type of angel decor piece in her house. It usually did not match the rest of the decor it was surrounded by, but grandma did not care. She would not move that angel!
34. Sewing Machine
A staple for every grandmas house was a sewing machine in the guest room. The sewing machine would be surrounded by all her sewing tools and fabrics. It was also a big no-no to touch her sewing machine!
35. Guessing Game
Actually finding the butter at grandma’s house was always a guessing game. Grandma kept all her old butter containers to use for left over containers! Who needs tupperware when they have butter?

Every grandma had this pot, not a pot just like it, but this pot! There must have been a sale before we were all born because every grandma had one.

Welch’s cups were solely used for grandkids. These were our special cups! It was always a fight for your favorite character too.

There was always at least one kitchen item that had 1970s mushroom decor. The rest of the set might have been lost or thrown away but one had survived over the years and was used regularly.
39. Plastic Bags
One cabinet, usually the one underneath the sink, had one plastic bag filled with other plastic bags. It was unclear why grandma needed all those plastic bags but she saved every one after a shopping trip!
40. China Cabinet
Oh, the china cabinet. Grandchildren were never allowed to even go near it! The dishes were never used that were in the china cabinet. The entire purpose of a china cabinet was always unclear to grandchildren!
41. Alarm Clock
This alarm clock was always in at least one room of grandma’s house. If you had to sleep in that room those neon numbers doubled as a night light because they were so bright!
42. Plastic Living Room
Grandma’s always made sure to keep plastic covering over their couches! There was going to be no spills on those couches. She did not care about how uncomfortable it was for everyone, all the mattered was keeping the couches clean.
43. Soap Dish
Grandmas have the most elaborate soap dishes we have ever seen. Bathroom soap had their own little beds to lay on by the look of the soap dishes. It was only used when guests would come over though!
44. Let’s Go Fishin’
It is unclear which older cousin this game was originally bought for, but all younger cousins have played with it ever since. You just had to hope the fishing poles had not gone missing since your last visit to grandma’s house!
45. Closet of Quilts
There was always one closet that was full of quilts. The entire closet would completely full too. When it was time to sleep over, this was the go-to closet for sleepover blankets.
46. Scale
Grandma’s scale was never accurate because it was decades old! The red line never started at zero, it was always off by a few pounds, but grandma never threw it away.
47. Purse Candy
These candies could always be found in grandma’s purse. It is unclear to this very day where she was able to buy them because the only place they have been seen has been in her purse.

Werther’s candy was also another staple of candy from grandma. These caramels were the best, even if they might have been older than their expiration.
49. Leaving Grandma’s Part One
When it was time to leave grandma’s house, every grandkid was hoping for grandma to try and slyly sneak you money. The secret hand-off was always the best feeling!
50. Leaving Grandma’s Part Two
Grandma could never just say goodbye from inside her house, she would wave you off the entire drive out of her street. It was always fun to turn and keep waving to grandma because you knew she would still be there watching you drive away.
