If you order a lot of items online, chances are youโve come across the following scenario. According to the tracking app, your parcel was delivered at your front door, and yet, the package is nowhere to be found.
Thatโs a situation that Tom Mabe came across way too many times, and it occurred so often that it had to be a thief who simply stole the packages from the manโs driveway. Thereโs even a special term for people who steal parcels: porch pirates.
After installing a security camera right above his front door, Tom confirmed his suspicion. There was someone out there who simply stole all of the packages he could find.
Tom, who is actually a famous YouTuber, decided to try and have some sweet, sweet revenge. The man specializes in pranks and other funny videos, and this time, the prank was very well-deserved.
With over 15 million views, Tomโs revenge on the package thief has gone viral!
The YouTuber starts his video by explaining the situation.
โYou know I live in a pretty nice subdivision, but between me and my neighbor Bob, weโve had no less than three or four UPS boxes and FedEx packages stolen from our front porch. Four days ago, I planted a bait box on my front porch.โ
So what is a โbait boxโ, you might ask?
The concept is actually pretty similar to the โbait carsโ that police officers use to catch car thieves. Even though Tom isnโt a law enforcement member and canโt arrest anyone, he is definitely able to pull off a nasty prank โ and thatโs exactly what he did. After realizing what happened with his packages, he decided to rig himself a so-called bait box.
With the help of some friends, Tom simply rigged a small package box with a small explosive device, completely harmless, of course. However, the box itself is filled with fecal matter. When a box full of poop explodes, you definitely donโt want to be anywhere near it.
He planted the fake package on his porch, and then the waiting could begin.
After a couple of days, the motion-detecting feature on his security camera triggered an alert, and Tom was able to check out a live feed of his home immediately.
Sure enough, a car stops right in front of his home and the driver gets out to grab the package. Tom and his wife donโt recognize the man, but itโs pretty obvious that this was the parcel pirate that has been plaguing the neighborhood for so long.
The man doesnโt hesitate, takes the box and puts it in his car right next to him.
Tom rigged the box to explode forty seconds after it was picked up. That way, the box wouldnโt explode on his porch, but in the culpritโs car!
The next few seconds were really exciting for Tom and his friends who were looking at the stream, because they didnโt know if the explosion would occur in the range of security cameras.
We see the car driving away until it makes a sudden stop right before it exits the cameraโs field of view.
The poop box successfully exploded, much to the enjoyment of Tom and his friends.
The parcel thief immediately steps out of his car, wondering what just happened. The explosion worked and the man was covered in poop! They couldnโt stop laughing, and it was safe to say that this was a plan that came together perfectly.
