Dwayne Johnson, known to many as “The Rock,” recently did something extraordinary for a fan whose story deeply touched him.
This fan, a Navy veteran named Oscar Rodriguez, was about to receive an early Christmas surprise from the famous actor, just before Thanksgiving.
Oscar, completely unaware of what was in store, was in for the shock of his life. Johnson, at 49, was ready to make a grand gesture.
This came around the time when Johnson, along with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, were basking in the success of their new film, “Red Notice.”
During a special screening of “Red Notice,” The Rock decided to do something unique for the audience.
He treated the moviegoers to free concessions and ice cream, but he had something even bigger in mind.
Initially, he wanted to give away the Porsche Taycan featured in the movie, but Porsche didn’t agree to it.
Unfazed, Johnson decided to give away something very personal – his custom Ford F-150 Raptor, a vehicle he fondly called his “baby.”
Johnson took to Instagram to share his thoughts: “I gathered as much information as I could about everyone in the audience and ultimately, Oscar’s story moved me.”
Oscar, a humble Navy veteran, is not just a personal trainer but also a caretaker for his 75-year-old mother and a leader in his church.
He extends his support to women suffering from domestic violence, offering them solace and help.
The Rock, known for his love for his fans, made an unexpected appearance during the screening.
He spoke about Rodriguez’s inspiring story and invited the Navy veteran to join him.
The Rock expressed his admiration, saying:
“Your story really moved me because I hear that you’re a personal trainer, you’re always keeping it positive and motivational and optimistic.”
Rodriguez, overwhelmed, responded:
“I’m just speechless. I’m so glad to meet you, I feel so encouraged right now, so uplifted. I’m encouraged by your motivation. I follow you on Instagram, I listen to your words. You inspire me. And yeah, let’s do it. Let’s change the world, one person, at a time.”
The moment of surprise came when Johnson invited Rodriguez outside and handed him a card addressed to “Oscar.”
Rodriguez read the card aloud, which said, “Thank you for your service, brother. Enjoy your new truck.”
The realization of what was happening hit Rodriguez hard.
He was overcome with emotion, dropping to the ground beside the truck in disbelief.
“What the heck is happening?” he exclaimed, jumping up to hug Johnson.
In a moment of surprise and joy, Rodriguez said, “I thought this was your truck, bro!” to which Johnson replied, “It is my truck! Now it’s your truck!” Rodriguez was so excited that he immediately FaceTimed his girlfriend to show her he was with Johnson and his new truck.
Driving away in his new Ford, Rodriguez expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s just love, bro.”
Johnson reflected on the moment, stating, “It was just an honor for me to give a little bit of joy to someone who deserves a lot more than just my truck.”
He humorously added that he now needed a way to get home.
Rodriguez later shared the video and a photo of himself with his new F-150 on social media.
He expressed his gratitude and blessings, quoting from Psalms 103:1-2, “With my whole heart, with my whole life, and with my innermost being, I bow in wonder and love before you, the holy God! Yahweh, you are my soul’s celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you’ve done for me?”
