In 1998, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli released a beautiful duet called, “The Prayer,” in Italian and English. The song was written and recorded for the animated film Quest for Camelot. The song won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999 and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2000. Though the song has been covered many times, one of the most touching recent covers came from a father and daughter duo.
Daughter Rebekah Rose shared this video on her YouTube earlier this year and it has been such a blessing during this hard time in our lives. The video begins with Rebekah singing Celine’s part with a gorgeous angelic voice.

This song may have been released over twenty years ago, but in recent months, it has gained more attention. It was used as one of the songs performed by many of the contestants on American Idol during Hollywood week. In those cases, the duets brought tears to the judges’ eyes and rightly so. One contestant, Genavieve Linkowski, even sung the song with her father a few years ago on YouTube.
But there’s something special about this particular duet in 2020.
After giving Rebekah her time, her father then jumps in with Bocelli’s Italian solo and gives us chills. While his daughter’s voice is soft and pristine, deep and weathered. There’s something so touching about hearing someone sing in a different language, especially when their voice holds so much feeling and conviction.
It’s obvious that these two share the same convictions.

While both father and daughter have amazing voices, they truly shine when they sing together. Their voices blend like family members with strong connections and at this point, you won’t be able to stop watching them.
If you don’t have chills after they start singing together, then are you even listening to the song? They sound amazing together, but when they start to harmonize, jaws drop and lips quiver. Harmony is the key to any good duet and they nail it.
Their harmony is on point and would cause anyone to shiver.
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace. You don’t have to be religious to feel this one. The voices of the Rebekah and her father are so special that they could sing anything and our hearts would melt. These two are remarkable, but when they end the song, we see the conviction in their own faces. They have a moment of serenity within themselves before taking anyone or anything else in.

Though the most special moment of all comes when they finish the song and are connected one again not through their music, but through the relationship they have built over the years. After watching this, you’ll either want to call your parent or wish that you shared even a smidgen of the kind of connection that these two do. Not everyone is as blessed as these two when it comes to father-daughter relationships, but I hope they inspire others with theirs.
