Texas hobbit home built completely underground has gorgeous mural in every room
This home is a work of art inside and out. The rooms are way bigger than I would've thought and the bathroom is amazing.

What could you do with 3,000 feet of living space? Well, if you are like the owners of an underground home in Buffalo, Texas, you fill the walls with colorful murals. The home consists of five domes and interconnecting tunnels and is almost completely underground.

According to realtor Terri Alexander, who is the listing agent for the home, she doesn’t know of any home quite like this one in the state of Texas. Calling the home “different,” she says that any potential buyer of the home will have to be somebody with a more eclectic taste.

On the market for 1.9 million dollars, the home has a total of three bedrooms, two baths, and other living space. To top it off, the residence is surrounded by a sprawling 40 acres of rolling hills.

The man who built the home, Glenn Young, had some specific ideas when he designed the underground home. He also had something to prove, as the people at Monolithic Domes didn’t seem too keen on the idea of someone putting one of their domes underground.

One of the most amazing things of all, according to Alexander, is the absence of the need for regular maintenance that you have with many homes. There has been pretty much no maintenance to the home in 20 years.

The entrance is fashioned to look like something from “The Hobbit.” But its inconspicuous appearance belies what is beyond the entry doors. The door, which is a metal gate, opens onto a tunnel which, in turn, leads to the actual front door. From there, the house really opens up.

The rooms inside of the home contain murals from three different artists and follow a certain theme. Some of the themes found in the rooms of the home include Acapulco, ancient Egyptian, and space, among others. The bathroom is themed to look like an ancient temple.

One would think there would be a sense of claustrophobia with an underground home, but Alexander says that is not the case at all.

The rooms have naturally high ceilings and stay about 72℉ year-round.

The machinery for the air circulation system is above ground, making it easy to access.

Above ground, you can find two workshops, with a total of over 7,500 feet of space in which to work. The home is located about 90 minutes outside of Dallas, Texas.
