While having a new baby can be a stressful time, the initial news is always pretty exciting. There are so many people to tell and loved ones to share the moments with. Since the internet and the rise of viral videos, though, the pressure is on to make the announcements for moments like these more and more creative. Fortunately, the family below was up to the challenge.
The woman being celebrated is Tessa Murdock, a photographer who runs her own business out of Salt Lake City. As the clip explains, she and her husband had been trying for three years to get pregnant. Though she thought she was infertile, she got some surprising news that a baby was on the way. Of course they had to share the great news. Under the guise of posing for a timed picture, Tessa gets her family together. As the timer counts down, her husband makes the announcement: “Everybody say, ‘Tessa’s pregnant!’”
At first the family members are a little bit confused. “No she’s not,” someone says—though of course, once it’s confirmed, everyone is beyond excited. In no time, everyone is on their feet clapping, hugging and celebrating as only a loving family can. The news gets broken to quite a few people over the course of the video. Overall though, a little boy at the end sums it up the best when he runs up and grabs the camera. “I’m gonna have a little tiny baby cousin!” he shouts.
The story is heartwarming enough for Tessa and her family finally conceiving after years of trying—maybe the lesson here is that persistence pays off! Still, it’s also a creative approach to breaking the news which is sure to be imitated by others on the internet in due time. Congratulations Tessa! We’re sure you’ll make a great new mom.
