After a hectic day, the last thing many of us want to do is cook a big dinner.
So a lot of times we turn to food that’s easy – like popping something frozen into the oven or cooking mac and cheese for the millionth time.
Luckily, there’s a way to have delicious, homemade dinners without having to stay tethered to the kitchen. We’re talking slow cookers, of course!
There are all kinds of slow cooker recipes out there to help satisfy even your pickiest eaters. This is one of them!
Mom and social media star, Kayli Butler, shared a simple recipe for making teriyaki chicken. As she puts it,
“It’s great for busy parents, college students, or anyone who is always in a rush.”
Here’s what you need to make “Quick and Easy Teriyaki Chicken.”
- Frozen chicken breasts (5 or 6)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- Carrots (baby)
- Broccoli (chopped)
- Additional vegetables (optional)
Kayli (from HeyKayli) explains in the video that she got the recipe from a friend.
The amount it makes up is perfect for her family, and also provides some leftovers.
But just know it’s a teriyaki chicken recipe that can be adjusted to fit your family’s size and preferences.

Another thing to keep in mind is that since it’s a slow cooker recipe, you need time for it to cook! This one requires about seven hours of cook time.
Step One:
Place the frozen chicken breasts inside of the slow cooker (aka crockpot).
Step Two:
Add the 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the slow cooker, followed by the 1/2 cup of soy sauce. Kayli points out that you can use any brand.
Step Three:
You’re now going to let it cook. The mom sets her slow cooker to “high,” and lets it sit for five hours.
Step Four:
Once the five hours are up, you’re going to add some baby carrots to the slow cooker.
When it comes to how many, Kayli says:
“Just add as many carrots as you like. If you don’t like carrots don’t add as many. Or, you don’t have to add any if you don’t want to!”
Now, place the cover back on and cook for another hour.
Step Five:
After the hour is up, add some chopped broccoli to the slow cooker. If you’re a big fan of veggies, you can toss others in too!
Cauliflower, onions, or peppers would also make great additions. It all depends on what you and your family like.
Place the cover back on and cook for an additional hour.
The mouthwatering teriyaki chicken is now ready to enjoy!
You can eat it plain, over noodles, over rice, or scoop it onto a salad.
Not only is it barely any work, but just look at how amazing Kayli’s turned out…
That’s a huge step up from your typical easy meal!
So, what are viewers who’ve tried making the dish themselves saying? One person commented:
I made my family this for dinner tonight and they all loved it, even my picky brother ! Thanks :)
Another wrote:
“This is by far the BEST chicken I have EVER HAD!!!! Oh my gosh, it’s sooooooooooo easy, and it tastes sooooo good. Even my father, who normally hates chicken, loved this. Thank you so much Kayli!”
