They sure tried though. 😂

Sometimes an idea, good or bad, might sound plausible until you try to do it in person. Then, you realize you need to rethink your decision.

Two teens will have plenty of time to rethink their poor decision in their jail cell.

They learned this lesson the hard way.

They also learned it the funny way.

Just recently on March 25, 2023, an auto-theft victim, who didn’t provide his identification, was at the Sunoco Gas Station in the 19200 block of Frederick Road.

He just refilled his car’s gas and was on his way back to his vehicle, just past four in the afternoon.

Just then, he saw two teenagers running toward him. He quickly tried to close the door of his car, but the first teenager pulled the car door really hard.

Then the second teenager came and both of them pulled the victim out of the vehicle.

It wasn’t looking good.

Thankfully, they didn’t hurt the owner.

They pushed him out and the two of them got inside the car.

Now, just looking at the CCTV footage, you’d expect them to dash off as quickly as possible – but there was nothing.

As the clock ticks, you can see the teenager inside the driver’s seat having a hard time navigating the car.

The problem that they faced, something that they didn’t plan, was that the vehicle they carjacked was a stick shift.

Life didn’t prepare them for this, apparently.

Another term for this type of vehicle is a manual transmission car, a type of vehicle that requires the driver to shift the gears manually.

With an automatic transmission car, the car shifts gears by itself. However, in a stick-shift car, the driver is in control of the car’s speed and acceleration.

If you are used to automatic transmission cars, you may find a stick shift to be quite complicated.

The teens couldn’t figure it out.

You need lots of practice and patience for you to get the hang of driving a stick-shift car.

The duo took their time, but they didn’t know how to drive the car.

They seemed to know their jug was up.

As fast as they could, the two teens got out of the car and ran as fast as they could.

Just past 4:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) rushed to the scene.

The officers noticed the two teenage suspects on the 19000 block of Frederick Road. As the officers got out to try to approach the teens, they immediately ran away.

After a short chase, the teens were arrested.

The police released information about the case.

They said that there was one 16-year-old juvenile from Rockville, and the other, a 17-year-old juvenile from Washington, D.C. were apprehended the same day.

The duo, who didn’t anticipate a stick shift car, would now face one count of carjacking and one count of conspiracy carjacking each.

They are now spending time in their jail cell, without bond.

Good thing the victim and his car were safe and unharmed.
