Can you imagine being 13 years old and being referred to as the “Greatest Artist Of All Time” by Blake Shelton?

Kennedy Holmes sure didn’t. She just loved to sing and decided to audition for The Voice US to fulfill her singing dream.

Kennedy has been singing she was two years old when she would sing for her mother. Since then, she’s performed several times at The Muny, the local amphitheater at her local St. Louis, Missouri. She also performed in a local production of Hairspray when she was only 10 years old. Plus she has sung the National Anthem several times during St. Louis Cardinals’ games.

Aside from being a singer, she is also a dancer and a sports enthusiast!

She loves to dance, as evidenced in some of her The Voice performances, including where she performs “Me Too”. The judges loved this performance because it showed a different side of her and also showcased her teenage side.

The Voice judge, Jennifer Hudson, said, “You never disappoint. You are everything. That was so fun to watch.”

She also loves to play sports. And she’s been playing basketball and volleyball since she was a young girl, as well as performing gymnastics.

And because of The Voice, she already fulfilled one of her dreams, to sing a duet with her idol, Jennifer Hudson.

“One of my very first performances was ‘I Am Changing’,” Kennedy told Jennifer during her audition. “I’ve dreamed to sing with you.”

Jennifer was ready. Once they gave her a mic, she walked up to the stage and sang with Kennedy. Lifelong dream accomplished for Kennedy!

Though Kennedy only finished in fourth place, she delivered a lot of memorable performances during her stint on The Voice US.

Aside from her auditions, where she sang “Turning Tables” by Adele, and her fun, uptempo performance of “Me Too” by Meghan Trainor, her final performance was explosive!

“I wanted it to be big. This was my last performance on The Voice, might as well go big or go home,” Kennedy told People.

She performed Demi Lovato’s “Confident” while channeling Sasha Fierce.

Inspired by Beyoncé’s explosive performance at Coachella 2018, Kennedy lived up to the song name and oozed confidence every minute. And when she finished her performance, everybody was on their feet, cheering for her.

And the cheers wouldn’t die down for Kennedy!

Jennifer Hudson had to talk over the cheers just so they can get on with the show. And when she gave her comments, she had nothing but praises for Kennedy.

“There [are] so many things that should be said,” Jennifer started. “This girl just turned 14 and [yet] you were a true professional… in every way. I thought Beyonce was up there!”

Kennedy was simply over the moon about the entire experience and she feels crazy amazing!

“It hit me to know that someone that’s my idol thinks I’m ready for the music industry and ready to take off with my career,” Kennedy said.

And Jennifer Hudson, who was Kennedy’s coach on The Voice US, had so many praises for her young protege.

“It’s so amazing to see your process. It even inspires me to see how you take every note and put it into your work and come back another level up,” Jennifer told Kennedy.

Now that she’s back in school, she was glad to know how supportive the school is with her transition back. Students recognize her more now but she’s still the same Kennedy before The Voice.

She’s back studying and playing on the volleyball team.

Of course, now that the music industry knows about her now, she’s been busy taking advantage of it and building her musical career. She has signed a record deal with Republic Records, who also has Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Drake signed with their label.

She’s ready to work on her debut album one day but for now, she’s content with building her brand instead.

“I just want to make a positive impact on the world, and show anyone that you know no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you can do anything you want as long as you put your mind to it and work hard,” Kennedy told KSDK.
