Most of the time, we try to cover and bring rejuvenating stories for our readers but some incidents are so tragic and emotionally deep that we cannot ignore them.

Today we will be telling you about an incident that is very saddening and may possibly pinch you deeply. However, there is an important lesson to learn in this – the consequences of harsh driving.

The dawn of 2020 brought on an event of unprecedented bereavement on the Port Hills, New Zealand-based Alexander family when two of their beautiful teen daughters died in a horrible car crash.

The irony of this tragic incident was that just before the accident, one of the teen daughters named Tayla sent her friend a text message saying that she would die that night. Little did she know that her text would turn out to be true.

“Bro, I’m gonna die tonight,” the text reads which was sent by Tayla minutes before the crash, according to stuff.co.nz.

As the narrative was unfolded further by the local media, it was found out that Tayla and her sister Sunmara were in the car with their 19-year old friend. The vehicle was being driven carelessly fast around the roads of Port Hills.

“I’ve never been driven around the Port Hills so fast before,” Tayla sent a follow-up text to a shocked friend who received the death prediction message.

Minutes after the rendezvous on the SMS, the fatal tragedy happened. Tayla died right on the spot while her other sister Sunmara received critical injuries and severe burns.

Quite sadly, the Alexander family was to suffer another gut-wrenching news: Sunmara finally succumbed to her injuries just days after the incident on Dec 31st, her birthday.

Mr. Jason Alexander, the father of the two unfortunate girls, was completely shattered and broken by this unexpected turn of events.

“I can imagine obviously that my girls were scared, but anger’s not going to solve anything and [the driver] still a kid himself. He had two beautiful girls in the car and he was just showing off. Everything just got taken away from me.”

Despite suffering from this utter sadness, Mr. Alexander forgave the young boy who was responsible and set an example of humanistic sanity few can even try to comprehend.

“I forgive him, he’s just young himself. Being angry or bringing hate into it isn’t going to change anything, it isn’t going to bring Tayla and Sunmara back.”

Talking to the local media website stuff.co.nz, Mr. Alexander further stressed on the point of safe driving and advised the youngsters to avoid a showing-off on roads.

“Sunmara suffered so much, but hopefully not in vain. I would love to see that road sorted and more barriers up.”

Inadequate road safety measures and aggressive driving are some of the biggest causes of road-based fatalities. Almost 66% of traffic fatalities are caused by aggressive driving, according to a study by drivingtest.org.
