Talented teen creates chalk drawings each day during lockdown for her little brother

Ever since the pandemic hit us, people have really gotten in touch with their creative side. While being stuck at home with schools and work closed, many of us found ourselves doing projects to keep ourselves occupied. 14-year-old Macaire Everett decided that she wanted to make chalk drawings incorporating her little brother Cam (short for Camden).

“And we had all this chalk sitting in the garage that we weren’t using, so I pulled it out and said, ‘Cam, we are going to do a chalk drawing. I’m going to draw some balloons and you will be holding on them,'” Macaire recalled.

At first, she wanted to do a drawing a day until school started – but since that never happened, the art project continued for 100 days.

“Without Camden, it’s a drawing. With Camden it’s art,” she said.

Her project went to Instagram and it’s titled “Macaire’s Muse” — take a look at some of her incredible work in the following slides.

1) The original chalk drawing

Titled “A Boy and His Bunny,” this was Macaire’s very first chalk drawing that kicked off the spark of creativity. It’s so simple but so incredible. We just love how Cam has become a part of the art.

2) ‘Shark Bait’

Here, Macaire’s drawn a fishing boat for her brother Cam. He sits on the edge with his fishing pole in the water, unaware that he’s going to catch a big ol’ shark! Watch out, Cam!

3) ‘Backcountry’

Cam is hitting the slopes in this adorable chalk drawing! Macaire even made sure to include the skis and poles for this one. A true action shot!

Macaire has her brother gazing at the stars through a telescope in this day’s chalk drawing. He’s got his eyes set on the giant super moon in the sky – complete with craters and all!

Of course, when Easter came around, Macaire was going to do something special. Cam’s on colorful Easter egg hunt in this chalk drawing. There are even little tulips growing from the ground. So fitting!

Cam is on a solo camping trip in today’s drawing. “It just kept growing after that. Not only my family but friends and neighbors said wow, this is really cool. You gotta keep going,” Macaire said about her popularity on Instagram.

Little brother Cam is being shot out of a cannon through a ring of fire in this creative drawing. We love the adorable red and white circus tent. Just brilliant!

They’ve made their way to the Arctic in this adorable drawing. Cam is seen with a polar bear, pointing out the colorful northern lights. “Look! Aurora Borealis!”

Earth Day was another celebration that occurred during lockdown. Macaire wanted to make sure that our planet was celebrated with this nurturing drawing. So sweet.

Surf’s up in this action-packed chalk drawing! “It generally takes Everett two-to-four hours to finish a drawing. Ideas for what to draw often come during dinnertime,” reports a local NBC affiliate.
