School bullying has become a serious problem today as more kids suffer some form of violence at the hands of their peers. Chloe Robson, a 16-year-old from County Durham in the UK has been dealing with bullying since primary school.

Bullying can steal someoneโ€™s childhood

For someone whoโ€™s had to deal with constant violence from her schoolmates, a prom was not a source of joy but rather a reason for concern. Teenagers are going through physical and emotional changes which often leave them confused and also have problems with self-esteem. Bullying can make things much worse and cause teenagers like Chloe to lose self-confidence which can lead to problems later in life.

A bullied girl comet to prom with a formidable escort

Thanks to her cousin Grant, Chloe didnโ€™t have to worry about prom because wouldnโ€™t allow anyone to spoil her special day. Grant a founder of the โ€œNorth East Bikers Against Bulliesโ€ decided to organize a royal escort for his niece.

โ€œI was really nervous about going to the prom and the reaction Iโ€™d get. It was a big shock when we heard the engines and all the bikers turned up โ€“ I wasnโ€™t expecting that many but it made me feel supported and confident,โ€ Chloe told the media.

Bullying affected Chloeโ€™s confidence

Chloeโ€™s long-standing problem with bullying began back in primary school. Other kids targetted her because of her looks and things really escalated when she suffered physical abuse like pushing and shoving. The bullying had negatively affected her self-confidence and esteem.

โ€œThe bullying had a bad effect โ€“ it made me feel left out and alone. I had no-one to talk to about it and worried if I said anything it would get around โ€“ it will have a long-term effect on me.โ€

Despite the bullying, she faced, Chole is determined to look into the future and restore her self-confidence. She will begin her studies of media and photography and also helps her cousin Grant Robson and his Bikers Against Bullying in providing the much-needed support to other victims of bullying.

โ€˜The biggest bully is Facebookโ€™

Grant has explained that Chloe is far from being alone and that other members of the group have been the targets of bullying in school.

โ€œI was bullied at school but when I was at school you just got a bit beat up but these days you have social media โ€“ the biggest bully in the world is Facebook. Iโ€™ve seen some of the messages bullies send, things like โ€˜I hope you stop breathing in your sleep.โ€

Despite the problems they faced, Chloe, her parents, and grant want to raise awareness and help people overcome the effects of bullying.
