Prom’s a magical time full of dancing, fancy attire, dinner with friends and tons of photos. Laughter and smiles abound.

Addi Rust was looking forward to attending her senior prom at Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, Ind., with her best friend Parker Smith. She stumbled upon her dream dress, but sadly couldn’t afford it.

Oh how she longed to wear it, but there are other prom expenses she had to cover, too, so it was out of the question. So she tried to forget the dress that called out to her and focus instead on having a fun time with her bestie.

She longed for the sparkly, flowing blue dress but the reality was that there was no way it fit in her prom budget. Addi’s friend and date Parker Smith knew what the dress meant to her and decided to take matters into his own hands – literally.

Parker had never sewn anything before in his life, but decided to create Addi’s dream dress himself. She had joked with him about making it for her and he realized it was a challenge he wanted to embrace.

And something special he wanted to do just for her, he shared.

“You know what, I think I could actually make your prom dress.”

Parker first taught himself how to sew with guidance from his grandmother. He sketched out a gorgeous version of the dress Addi loved and then spent months at the sewing machine working on it. Sometimes he would remake the dress just to make sure it was perfect.

“I’m such a perfectionist that I was up adding more stones to the dress even the night before prom.”

The finished dress had such a wow factor that no one could believe what Parker had done.

Even though Parker allowed Addi to catch glimpses of the dress at each stage, she admitted to growing teary when he presented her with the completed gown.

Addi took to Twitter to share how amazed she was at Parker’s talent and her dress.

‘Taking a minute to brag on this man because I think this is the coolest thing that I’ve ever been a part of. Parker MADE my prom dress. Straight from scratch did the whole thing and I am still speechless. I’m so lucky to have him as my best friend!”

Parker also tweeted about the experience and alluded to Cinderella.

“Quite a journey, but the first thing I’ve ever sewn (a prom dress) has been finished, just in time for the ball. Not only did I get the honor of being the Prince Charming to the beautiful @AddiRust, but her fairy godmother as well, haha! I’m so thankful for her. (From scratch).”

Imagine Parker’s surprise when he was asked to create gowns for the theater community and its production of none other than Cinderella. He managed to study the transformation style skirt and succeeded in reproducing it.

“I am Parker, goddess of the transformation skirt.”

His friend Gracie Bertram who played Cinderella shared on social media how amazing Parker’s costumes were that he made for her.

“Can we appreciate my best friend for a moment. He made both of these dresses BY HIMSELF FROM SCRATCH and look how gorgeous they turned out. You are truly remarkable and I’m so proud of EVERYTHING you do.”

Watch how Parker made Gracie’s senior prom absolutely perfect with a stunning dress made from scratch. What an amazing friend!
