There’s nothing more heartwarming than seeing a foster child find their forever home.
For Justin Padgett, a former 5th-grade teacher, and his wife, Kasey, their journey to adoption started in a rather unexpected way—right inside Justin’s classroom.
What began as a regular school day transformed into a life-changing moment, both for them and for the student they would come to call their son.
Justin first met Jayden, one of his students, while Jayden was living in foster care.
The little boy often came to Justin’s classroom for extra one-on-one help.
One day, in a moment that would change everything, Jayden typed out a simple but profound message on his school computer: he needed to be adopted.

“We’ve tried to give them any opportunity to experience life,” Justin explained.

Recently, they even checked a big item off their family bucket list—taking their first flight together to New York City for their interview with GMA.
And if that wasn’t enough, the family received an unforgettable surprise: a dream trip to Hawaii.
The excitement among the children was off the charts when they learned about the upcoming vacation.
