That familiar sharp tapping sound on a stage sure brings back memories. Those precision steps producing audible beats to the rhythm of the music takes one back to tap dancing greats like Eleanor Powell, Ginger Rogers, and of course, Fred Astaire. It’s a real treat to watch too.
Originating in the United States through the fusion of African, Scottish, Irish, and English clog dances, tap dancing was nurtured in New York City by different ethnic groups and took of from there.
Styles of tap dancing emerged and evolved through the decades.
Tap has been kept alive by different generations. It holds a certain charm to it that seems to interest even younger folk. Check out these two ladies.
Two different generations with one style.
Both beautiful and talented wearing identical outfits and yet doing the same dance, it is breathtaking to watch. And we mean that in both senses. A normal person would collapse in exhaustion from all that energy. But not these two!
The lady starts off with a little solo of her own, her charming smile bringing the melody to life along with her tapping. She looks to her left and a much younger lady enters and joins her with moves that would make Ginger Rogers proud.
Tap is a dynamic form and as such made popular by dynamic personalities.
These two ladies move in synchronized fashion and even viewers have to agree.
“the precision is absolutely amazing well done!”
What is equally impressive is the little girl who matches her older partner move for move. She barely looks 12!
They bring back Hollywood 1930s with these moves.
It is very impressive to see and hear both pairs of feet tapping along at the same time to the same beat. There is power and yet they are graceful to behold. It’s not just all footwork either. They swing and sway their hips around and they accompany their routine with swift stretches of both arms.
This viewer agrees to,
“perfect tap conjunction. Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!”
Those pants flare out and these girls definitely have the flair.
What’s also cool about tap dancing is no one is required to be sexy or dress sexy as compared to modern dances. It’s pure talent and raw personalities moving along to the melody. The influences of the past decades live on and we’re betting these two girls know a thing or two about them.
The classics hold timeless magic and continues to inspire the world today.
From the music, to the outfits, to the steps, these ladies are in their own separate world just tapping away with obvious delight on their pretty faces. They even have a little “one on one” moment. The taller lady points to her feet and executes a few flawless steps before twisting her hips to point at her younger partner, who in turn answers back with her own tap routine as she seemingly floats on her feet.
They go back and forth and those smiles just become contagious even to viewers.
Tell us these two don’t make you want to dance.
Tap dancing will live on thanks to incredibly talented performers like these two. And we won’t blame you should you want to enroll and learn.
