Every year, many different types of performances take place around the world, including dance competitions. In this video, the dance competition is the Rock That Swing Festival, where we see dancing best friends, Sondre and Tanya wow the crowd with their fantastic swing performance.
What exactly is the Rock That Swing Festival?
The Rock That Swing Festival is a festival that has been taking place for more than a decade, and it’s purpose is to celebrate the diversity of the dances and music of swing music. Swing dancing was a type of dance popularized in the 20s to 50s.
Swing dancing is a lively style of dancing in which the dancer’s partner lifts, spins, and flips his or her partner, which involves a lot of swinging. The Rock That Swing Festival celebrates the Rock’N’Roll, and in this video, we definitely see Sondre and Tanya doing that exactly.
When their performance starts, you can see they’re both ready to show their skills.
As the video begins, we see both Sondre and Tanya looking very excited to start their performance. They chose to dance to the song “Sentimental Journey” by Wilbert Harrison, a song written in 1944, that became very popular, and many people have covered, like Doris Day.
The song “Sentimental Journey”, shows to be a great option to swing dance to because Sondre and Tanya have no problem showing off their moves. The way they can move the lower halves of their body without the top barely budging is highly impressive.

Then when the pair break away, they do a matching dance that looks almost impossible, but they do it with no stress, smiles on their faces. They come together and perform the rest of their amazing dance routine, with each move becoming even more impressive.
Sondre and Tanya definitely love what they do; they even teach lessons.
Sondre and Tanya are well-renowned swing dancers, winning many awards together and on their own. Sondre, starting at the age of eight, began to swing dance, and Tanya began acrobatic Rock’N’Roll at age nine, and the rest is history.
