When we think about the beautiful art form of dance, it is pretty normal that, for a lot of us, tap dancing comes to mind first. That’s because it is not only one of the most enjoyable and most common dances to learn, but it’s actually really challenging too.
You have to really put in the work and have the technical skill to be able to tap dance. It is not an easy thing to do! So that’s why when we see tap dancers effortlessly nail it, we can’t help but get super excited.
Tap dancing is driven by the actual sound that is made when the metal taps in the dancer’s shoes hit the ground. Not only is the person dancing and moving their entire body around, but they can also even be seen as a type of percussionist. It can absolutely count as a form of percussion since it involves so much rhythm and musical elements that are purely produced by the dancer’s body.
In 2016, Kayla Taylor performed the most epic tap dance routine to the song “Faith” by Lake Street Dive. Choreographed by Hilary Fuller at Concord Dance Academy, the dance was an absolute smash that pleased everyone in the audience.
It was a solo performance that had the energy of ten dancers all at once.
Kayla was wearing a bubblegum blue costume with flowers and lots of fun sparkles and sequins, which perfectly matched her attitude. She exuded confidence as she danced away for three minutes. She also had a smile on her face for the entire duration of the performance and did not break once.
It was obvious that she was so happy to be there on stage and dancing. You can tell that she really felt right at home as she tapped away on the floor, adding incredibly impressive percussive elements to the already fun and upbeat tune.
She stomps at certain points and really emphasizes certain notes. At other times, she treads very lightly on the ground and makes much more subtle noises. The way that she goes back and forth between these different styles makes for a really dynamic, unpredictable show.
But even though she is constantly switching it up, it is still super smooth and fluent. It almost seems as though she is just swimming in water with no problem. She could do this in her sleep!
Sometimes she keeps it simple and then sometimes she manages to click her feet about 80 times within three seconds. We have no idea how she could possibly fit that much movement into such a short period of time but hey, she is definitely doing it and for that reason, we are wowed!
This incredible performance also reminds us of another girl who is a little bit younger but has the same amount of talent.
This tiny dancer named Faith was planted in front of the television as she wore a brand-new pair of tap shoes.
Funny enough, her name is Faith and Kayla was dancing to a song called “Faith.” Coincidence? We wonder!
Faith wasn’t trying to get fancy or anything — she just decided to whip out her best moves on the spot, which also happened to be her cutest. She may be young but she is definitely not lacking in the confidence department! Which, she shouldn’t anyway, because she is bursting with talent!
We love this little girl’s passion and creativity.
As we watch her live her best life and dance like no one is watching, we just wish everyone was like this! Pure confidence and happiness through movement! Her joy is infectious.
