Nils and Bianca are not your typical YouTubers. They’re quite the pair. Since they were kids, they already loved dancing: ballet, lindy hop, Latin dances, hip hop, ballroom, and even the Swedish bugg. It was more than just a hobby. The dancing enthusiasts were also quite used to performing and competing with other partners in their respective home countries, Sweden and Italy.

So it really comes as no surprise that they’ve mastered the boogie-woogie, too.

Inspired by American rock and roll and Lindy Hop dancing in the 1950s, the boogie-woogie is one of the most playful and creative dance styles around. While it stemmed from existing dance forms, it eventually developed its own European style and personality. Often done in medium and fast tempo, it consists of significant footwork based on musical interpretation. Some people even refer to it as the “Jitterbug and Jive”. (Source: Herrang Dance Camp)

Because the pair loves dancing so much, they’ve taken dancing beyond the studio. In the video’s description, the couple shares:

“We found this nice spot just around the corner of the dance studio where we practice. The tune we are dancing to is Mead “Lux” Lewis’ “Meade’S Blues.”

The music starts playing and Nils starts dancing towards the small, makeshift dance floor right beside the river.

Seconds after comes Bianca, sporting an emerald green, long-sleeved top tucked into white trousers. Her short hair, bouncy curls, and shoes set off the look, but what stood out was the smile she had on the entire time she was dancing.

The upbeat track – one that could compell just about anyone to get up and dance – highlighted the couple’s steps perfectly.

“Boogie Woogie is a social dance that has its roots in swing dancing. It is not only a competition choreographed dance, but much much more.”

Definitely more than just another dance derived from many different styles from decades past, boogie-woogie is indeed a delight to watch.

The fast-paced choreography and the seemingly complicated footwork didn’t seem at all difficult for the pair.

Nils and Bianca danced with such ease that it looked like the most natural thing in the world.

They would trade places, transition from one step to another, and smoothly carry out arm and leg movements in time with the beat of the song.

Dancing, they say, is a form of communication. When words fail, movements speak.

In Nils and Bianca’s case, they’re able to do more than just express themselves through dance. They bring meaning to dancing by showing viewers all over the world how enjoyable it truly is.
