Deciding about what to choose among great options is definitely a difficult thing to do. And for The Voice Kids UK judge Pixie Lott, this task has gotten to a whole new level when she had to choose between three of her talented artists during the show’s Battles round. It was absolutely a tough call to make because the talented youngsters were all amazing performers.
Their song choice moved not only the judges, but everyone in the room.
In the Battles round of the famous talent competition, 14-year-old Tabi Gervis, 14-year-old Riccardo Atherton and 13-year-old Erin Connell had to face each other before they can advance to the next round. Their coach, Pixie Lott, ended up in tears because they were all so good and choosing only one of them was absolutely a tall order.
For their song, Pixie chose the legendary “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” originally sung by Judy Garland in her role as Dorothy in the movie “The Wizard of Oz”. We all know this song’s impact to its listeners and for young artists to give it justice, they need to really justify the emotions the song requires.
When Erin opened the song, everyone in the audience was truly moved by the sincerity of her voice. It was such a beautiful way to start the performance and the audience really felt just how special their number was because she set the bar really high at the start of their song.
These kids may be young, but they know how to make a song touch people’s hearts.
If Erin made such an impact in the song’s beginning, Riccardo made his part remarkable by giving his heart and soul in every line he uttered. He may be young but this boy definitely knows how to convey the right emotion to his audience.
Even Grandma gets in on the action.
Apart from his obviously fantastic vocals, his charm is also something that sets him apart. He even gestured to his grandmother in the audience, to which the elderly lady responded with a wave and a kiss. They evidently share a really tight bond as family and their sweet exchange while Riccardo performed made his part even more adorable.
Meanwhile, Tabi started her part on a strong and engaging note, making everyone applaud and cheer loudly. Her family supported her dearly as they all sat in the audience, hanging onto her every word. She was a great talent and she was intent on showing it to the viewers that night.
Tabi’s father was so moved by her performance, he had tears streaming down his face.
Tabi’s father was absolutely proud of his daughter and could not help the tears from running down his cheeks as his daughter wows the crowd and the world with her amazing talent.
Pixie was also in tears as she watched her artists sing the song in a way that totally expected her expectations. The three singers were all great performers and it is definitely difficult to choose just one out of the three.
They brought an ending to the song that couldn’t be more perfect.
Tabi, Erin and Riccardo’s number ended on a very beautiful note that brought everyone up on their feet, including Pixie. She was obviously happy with what her artists did to the song and she feels really proud of them!
However, the judges can only choose one to advance in the next round of the competition. Watch below to see their choice.
