Everyone loves watching movies in bed on a lazy Sunday afternoon. For many of us though, that means watching our favorite flicks on a tiny laptop screen. It’s just not the same experience you would get going to the movie theater. There is just something about being in the theater that makes watching a movie 100 times more epic.
So now we have an interesting dilemma… to watch the movie in the comfort of bed or head to the cinema to experience the film on the big screen in all of its glory? That is the question.
Well, for at least one group of lucky moviegoers living in Spreitenbach, Switzerland, they no longer have to choose.
Their local cinema has now installed a new screen they are calling the ‘VIP Bedroom’ screen where they replaced all of the seats in the theater with double beds!
People love watching movies in bed, and people also love watching movies on a big screen, so why not combine the two into one glorious experience? At least that’s what we imagine the cinema’s thought process went like.
In an era were people no longer go on dates and Netflix and chill is basically the norm, the Swiss cinema has now created a very enticing alternative third option — cinema and chill.
Cinema and chill combines the traditional movie date with a casual new school seating arrangement millennials are sure to love. What could go wrong?
Well, at least some people on the Internet were concerned that the beds might encourage naughty behavior among moviegoers.
There are eleven beds in total and each comes complete with adjustable headrests, gray sheets, two pillows, and complimentary slippers.
However, you will need to purchase a VIP ticket to get access. As for food, don’t worry! The VIP ticket also comes with unlimited snacks in case you get hungry (including waffles and crepes!) You’ll even get a little nightstand next to the bed to set the food on.
In case all of that wasn’t enough, they also decided to build a kid’s room!
While the parents are busy watching movies on beds, the kids can relax on little bean bag pillows. If the kids get bored of the movie, they can take turns playing in the ball pit or going down the long tube slide in the corner. They really thought of everything!
Last but not least is their double sofa recliner VIP screen.
If you want a relaxing experience but don’t feel like shelling out the money for beds to lay on, you’re in luck. You still have the option of just getting one of their sofa VIP tickets, which are almost as good.
While the Pathe Schweize cinema is currently unique to Switzerland, if all goes well, they do have plans in the works to expand abroad in the future.
It might be only a matter of time until bed seating comes to a local cinema near you! We can only hope this catches on and becomes a thing.
