Vår Tenor literally translates to “Our Tenor.”

Which is the exact role Jalkeus takes in this song!

The Real Group has five dedicated members in the group and often features guest artists as well!

They’ve been touring for over thirty years

and have an international audience due to their interesting and unique sound, as well as their vocal talents!

The Real Group’s about page describes their journey:

“The Real Group was formed in 1984 by five students at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm.

“The original members were eager to explore the artistic world of vocal music with an emphasis on jazz, pop and folk music. The group quickly gained an international audience and

“has grown to become one of the cornerstones of modern a cappella.”

“Today the legacy of The Real Group is maintained and further developed by worldwide concert tours, recordings, educational mentoring and published scores. The mentorship has evolved over the years and continuously

“seeks to integrate artistic aspirations with human rights, ecological awareness, global concern and a feministic mindset.”

How cool is that?

Born and raised in Tyreso, Sweden, Jalkeus joined The Real Group back in 1984, when he was just 22, and performed with them until 2015!

That’s thirty-one years of performing and perfecting his craft!

According to Singers.com he began

“to learn violin and piano at the age of 6, and was accepted to Adolf Fredriks school of Music as a 10 year old, a school that has a strong focus on choir singing. After that he continued his studies at The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm for nine years.”

But despite this being right around the time that he founded The Real Group with four of his peers, his musical education didn’t stop there!

“Jalkeus has a masters degree in Classical Solosinging, a masters degree in Music Education, and degrees in playing the church organ and in conducting choir. He has studied choir conducting with professor Eric Ericson, and has also been a singer with Eric Ericson Chamber Choir as well as The Swedish Radio Choir.”

An illustrious career to say the least!

Jalkeus has recorded over sixteen albums and has performed in forty different countries!

That’s an insane track record considering The Beatles released thirteen full albums as a band!

He’s known to put on an incredible show and he has an absolutely insane vocal range! Jalkeus clearly puts a lot of pride into his craft and loves to be able to sho his ability to sing with vast variety!

He’s also known to be quite funny during his performances!
