The Christmas season is the season of music just as much as gifts, lights, and snow.
You could argue it’s the songs that help set that Christmas mood in, and I wouldn’t disagree.
We all know how famous, or infamous, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is.
But you can’t get any better than the classics.
Of course, I mean the likes of Silent Night, Deck the Halls, and Jingle Bells.
Jingle Bells is as iconic as Christmas songs go. So this German supermarket chose it for this little holiday flash mob of sorts.

The setting is a busy German supermarket where folks are doing their Christmas shopping.
The holidays are a hungry period, and the rush to buy all the hams, turkeys, and potatoes will draw in many people.
I love myself some mashed potatoes for Christmas too.
The point is: you should expect groceries to be packed during the holidays.
That makes them the perfect place to host a little festive musical prank.
While these shoppers were stocking up their carts and bags, the cashiers seemingly went about their jobs.

To their credit, they did a pretty good job playing it cool when the surprise was coming up.
Not a single soul suspected a thing. No one knew they were about to get one hell of a show in the most unlikely of places.
It began when the “beep” of the scanners started sounding a little suspicious. Almost like the start of “Jingle Bells.”

It wasn’t random, monotonous beeping anymore. The people heard a few beeps one after the other that sounded like notes.
That was just the start. Though you could already see the looks on some people’s faces that read “Hey, is that Jingle Bells?”
They guessed right. But what they hadn’t guessed was the lights going out.

As the lights went off, the green and red lights at the cashiers illuminated the grocery.
That subtle, musical beeping wasn’t so subtle now. It was an entire chorus that each cashier was contributing to.
All their scanners played the notes to Jingle Bells, which was a very pleasant surprise to all the shoppers.

Oh, but the grocery wasn’t done just yet. Where is that tambourine sound coming from?
That tambourine sound is no tambourine. It’s a beatboxer standing in for one, and he’s doing a phenomenal job.

Now that chorus is way louder.
It’s a cashier choir bringing in the holiday cheer with a beepy cover of Jingle Bells.
And they’ve got the percussion to go with it too. The beatboxing makes the scene more unique than just another cover of Jingle Bells.
When you’ve heard the same song for ages, it’s nice to mix things up a bit.

You can tell the crowd’s loving it from the swaying and nodding along.
After that unexpected, but wonderful performance, the shoppers give a round of applause.
Much deserved!
There’s no doubt now that the holiday spirit is in the air.
