At some point, everyone has a bad day. You might end up with a flat tire, have your electricity turned off because you forgot to pay the bill, or you learn your in-laws are coming for a long visit. Most of those bad days aren’t broadcasted for others to see.
But that’s not the case for grocery store employee. This man didn’t just have a bad day but a horrific moment. And thanks to excellent surveillance footage and someone uploading it online, we all get to laugh at his misfortune.
Job responsibility
People who work for grocery stores often carry out multiple tasks. They assist customers, grab last minute items for them while they’re in line, and they collect all the shopping carts from the stalls, as well as those some people leave strewn across the parking lot.
Going about his business
So, on one particular day, surveillance captured this guy doing his job of collecting grocery carts. Wearing his bright yellow safety vest, he was easy to spot. You can tell he takes his job seriously and wants to do a good job for the store he works at in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey.
A bad decision
Initially, he has a bunch of shopping carts lined up perfectly. But then for some reason, he lets go of a few of them while he focuses on the larger group. It appears he was having a hard time getting them to go in the right direction.
Unruly carts
He quickly runs ahead like he’s trying to get the larger bunch of carts to cooperate. At the same time, the few loners start slowly making their way backward…without any assistance. They have a mind of their own.
The unthinkable
Realizing the few carts are rolling away, he gives the large line of shopping carts a hard push as he lets them go to chase after the smaller group. We’re not sure what was going on in this guy’s mind…but it wasn’t good.
Things get worse
He thought after pushing the line of shopping carts, they’d either move forward slowly or stop altogether. But he was wrong. As soon as he reaches the loner carts, he realizes the others have now started moving backward.
That was close
The long line of carts gained so much momentum they were just about to hit a customer’s car. So, he lets go of the loner carts, sprints toward the others, and stops them just in the nick of time.
What’s happening
These carts seem like they’re possessed. Now focused on the carts he just prevented from hitting a car, you see the few loner carts go whizzing forward, also heading toward a vehicle. This is beyond hilarious.
Too late
For a split second, he thinks about running after the few carts but knows he’s not going to make it…and he doesn’t. Before he can get there, the carts hit an SUV. This time, he walks slowly to retrieve them.
Finally, a good decision
He thinks about adding the loner carts to the others but then changes his mind. Instead, he walks them to the front of the grocery store. That was a good call…the only one.
The saga ends
Although the video doesn’t show the guy going back for the long line of shopping carts that he left resting against the first car, we’re sure he collected them after making sure the loner carts were securely in place.
