Life is unpredictable. It can throw up all kinds of challenges and obstacles in our way, and we simply have to deal with them as well as we can, hoping that kindhearted people might help us out a little along the way. Sadly, that doesn’t always happen, but when it does, it’s beautiful. There are some stories in the news right now that can make us lose a little faith in humanity, but then stories like this one just bring it all back, highlighting the wonderful kindness and goodness in so many people out there.

Wayne Hayer studies at Morehouse College. He’s also a proud dad to his baby daughter, Assata. Usually, Wayne can find someone to look after Assata while he studies, but one day, life decided to throw him a curveball.

He couldn’t find a babysitter anywhere, but he really didn’t want to miss out on the class. This is a problem that many young parents have to deal with, and they often find themselves feeling forced to stay home and lose out on valuable education, but Wayne decided to take Assata to class with him and hope that his teacher, 34-year-old Nathan Alexzander, would understand.

Well, not only did Alexzander completely understand, the math professor even offered to hold Assata all through the class so that Wayne could take notes more easily!

Wayne felt a little nervous walking into class, but his teacher greeted him warmly, immediately understanding the situation and saying hello to little Assata.

Throughout the class, Alexzander cradled and cuddled the adorable baby, even helping her drift off to sleep as he taught the class. He even carried on holding her after class had finished while answering some questions from his students.

Many students were really touched by the incident and immeidately went online to share the story with the world.

Student came to class today with his child due to no babysitter or anybody to watch her while he was in class. My professor NATHAN ALEXANDER said “I’ll hold her so you can take good notes!”

Assata’s mom also heard about the story and shared a special thank you message for the professor. Here’s what she wrote:

Seeing the outpouring of support from friends, family, and strangers for Assata and Wayne is a sight to behold. I can feel the genuine love and enthusiasm. Thank you for encouraging us to continue to push forward. Thank you to black educators like Dr. Nathan Alexander [sic] for your compassion and understanding.

The story has since been read and enjoyed by people all around the world, particularly touching the hearts of all the young moms and dads out there who have found themselves in similar situations.

Nathan Alexzander definitely deserves one of those “Best Teacher” mugs after such a wonderful display of thoughtfulness to his student, and he’s setting a wonderful example for other teachers and people in general to follow. Acts of kindness can create so much happiness all around us, so we can all take a leaf from Alexzander’s book and try to help out others in need whenever we get the opportunity.

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
