Although his exuberant personality will win you over from the start, Ben Trigger seemed like a nice, likably fellow. Though, what was so special about him as a dancer? Pre-audition, we had no idea. We did learn that Ben got into one of the most competitive dance schools in Australia at the age of 12. So he must be good right?
While it seems he is talented, being in the competitive world at such a young age can take a toll on one. He was often insecure about his weight when he was younger with ballet teachers calling him “plump boy” rather than his name.
While his parents tried to take him out of this school, he fought it, knowing that he needed to get through the bullying in order to become the dancer he needed to be. Later in life, he was often cut from auditions before he even got a chance to perform simply because of his looks and personality.
But again, he didn’t let that stop him. When he broke his knee and was not allowed to dance for three years? Nope, he didn’t let that stop him from giving up on his dream. Instead, he pushed on, finding his own way. He used America’s Got Talent to launch his career. And boy did he!
We were all on the edge of our seats as he began his routine. And boy were we surprised! While he had focused on ballet in his younger years, his performance was off the wall…and off the chain! However, it was a rather standard “Boogie Wonderland” dance until he started stripping!
That’s right. Ben Trigger was a strip dancer all along. He even brought that dancing to the judges’ table where he shook it all for Simon. Simon seemed to enjoy it, saying, “amazing” as he watched the tassles spin.
At this point, he had the entire stadium involved, a giant feat for an audition. Although that wasn’t the most fascinating part. That came when he leaned back in the middle of the table and hit the golden buzzer!
This ended his performance with a whole heap of confetti and a rather scared look on his face. At first, he actually thought someone gave him teh buzzer before he put it all together himself, feeling silly about the whole thing.
Although the golden buzzer wasn’t for real, he did get four yeses from the judges. Maybe that golden buzzer was good luck after all. Everyone loves Ben Trigger and can never get enough of him no matter how outlandish his performance.
What’s funny is that on the next round, Ben Trigger makes fun of himself, pretending to get golden buzzed by Jay Leno! However, sadly, on Week 4 of the Judge’s Cuts, Ben Trigger was eliminated. From the competition at least. We believe we’ll still see him around, however. He now has millions of fans and will surely fulfill his dream dancing for as long as his body will let him!
