The story begins with a cop who pulls over a lady after she catches her driving too slowlyโฆ
Sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding drivers, a State Police Officer sees a car puttering along at 22 MPH. He thinks to himself, โThis driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!โ So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over. Approaching the car, he notices that there are five old ladies โ two in the front seat and three in the back โ eyes wide and white as ghosts. The driver, obviously confused, says to him, โOfficer, I donโt understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?โ
โMaโam,โ the officer replies, โYou werenโt speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers.โ
โSlower than the speed limit?โ she asked. No sir, I was doing the speed limit exactlyโฆ Twenty-Two miles an hour!โ the old woman says a bit proudly. The State Police officer, trying to contain a chuckle explains to her that โ22โ was the route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her error.
โBut before I let you go, Maโam, I have to askโฆ Is everyone in this car ok?These women seem awfully shaken and they havenโt muttered a single peep this whole time.โ the officer asks.
โOh, theyโll be alright in a minute officer. We just got off Route 119.โ

Man collects pennies for 45 yrs leaving bank tellers at a loss for words when he arrives to cash in
Over the course of 45 years he never accepted a penny from anyone. Not family, friends, no one but he only collected oneโs he managed to get himself.

If you collected all the pennies you could find for an entire month, how many do you think youโd have?
What about if you collected pennies for an entire year?
Now, consider how much money you would have if you collected pennies for 45 years.

This man collected pennies for 45 years and blew his bank tellers away when he brought them in.
Anders said that he began seeing pennies as a reminder to stop and say a prayer.

โIf I would see a penny when Iโm gassing up, on the ground, or in a store, it would be a reminder to stop right there and say a prayer,โ Anders said to ABC News. โI never failed to do that. Thatโs why they had so much value to me.โ
At no point during all of his penny-collecting did Anders accept coins as a gift from anyone else.

โBut I never allowed anyone, not even my wife nor children, to give me pennies without being compensated,โ he continued. โI wanted the inner satisfaction that God and I acquired this collection.โ
โI became convinced that spotting a lost or dropped penny was an additional God-given incentive reminding me to always be thankful. There have been days where I failed to pray and more often than not, a lost or dropped penny would show up to remind me.โ
Anders filled big water jugs with the coins he collected.
He said at one point his goal was to fill up 5 giant water jugs but once he had done that, he felt the urge to keep going.
He needed to go to the bank and turn them in or else heโd never do it.
At the time he finally went to the bank, he had filled 15 5-gallon jugs.
โI wanted to fill five five-gallon water jugs. That was the goal, but I couldnโt stop. โฆ If I hadnโt turned them in yesterday, I was not going to stop.โ
In addition to the intrinsic value Anders found in collecting the pennies, they also added up to have significant financial value.
After finding out his homeownerโs insurance policy wouldnโt cover his collection, he called the Origin Bank in Ruston, Louisiana, where he had been a customer for years.
Anders let them know he would be coming in with a large number of pennies.
They were happy to help but it was quite the undertaking.
โWe value his business, as we do all of our customers,โ said the bankโs Vice President Jennie Cole. โBut if we can help Anders with his endeavors, we are happy to do so.โ
