Dad Trolls Son At Bus Stop - For Three Years
He told his dad he embarrassed him when he waved at school bus - so, of course, dad had to step it up a notch.

Many kids have experienced their parents embarrassing them. Dads are especially funny about that and sometimes make a joke last longer than it should.

This dad has probably set the record for how long a dad trolls his kid and managed to continue.

Dale Price, who lives in American Fork, Utah, is the father of Rain Price. Back when Rain was a sophomore, he began riding the bus to school.

A tradition begins

Of course, this was a big transition for Rain, so he had some anxious feelings about the whole thing. Dale, in an effort to put Rain at ease, waved to his son as he hopped onto the school bus. This sweet gesture wasn’t taken the same way that Dale intended it to be.

It was actually pretty humiliating to the teenager, but Dale didn’t quite get this. After school that day, Rain talked to his mom, Rochelle Price, about the situation. He explained how it made him feel.

Rain told his mom that he was embarrassed by his dad’s enthusiastic waving. Rain also asked his mom to get his dad to stop waving to him.

Anyone who’s had a similar experience of telling their dad to stop teasing them might have an idea of how this went down. Usually, asking a dad to stop joking around leads to even more jokes.

As you might have predicted, Dale made an effort to wave each and every morning without fail. This was him showing his son just how bad it could get.

And then it goes a step further

Unfortunately for Rain, Dale decided to take it one step further. He wasn’t just waving. He was dressing up and waving. In Dale’s mind, waving alone was not enough to embarrass his teenage son. He found elaborate costumes to wear while waving.

Many of these costumes included accessories, such as hats, wigs, and plastic weapons. They were actually pretty extreme.

Dale mentioned that he only spent $50 on these costumes for the first year. This is impressive since he had a new costume every day. The school year lasted for 170 days, which means Dale had 170 unique costumes to wear.

Eventually, their neighbors and friends donated old Halloween costumes to the cause. Clearly, the neighbors also got a kick out of Dale’s game!

It’s likely that Dale got this idea because of the family’s obsession with Halloween. They all really enjoy having fun and dressing up together.

This also explains how Dale got his hands on so many unique costumes. He dressed up in a variety of costumes, from a mermaid to a pirate.

To keep all of the memories around, Rochelle decided to start a blog. She published pictures of Dale’s different costumes.

All good things must end

Eventually, this fun morning ritual had to come to an end. Rain went off to college, leaving Dale with no kids of his own to wave at.

Although Rain may miss this funny interaction between his father and himself, he’s probably glad the embarrassment is over.

It was exciting to see each of the new costumes that he came up with, but the part where Rain’s classmates saw the whole thing was less than ideal for the teenager.

It’s easy to say that Rain probably would have been content with just the waving and no costumes. He’s going to be sure not to take his father’s simpler gestures for granted anymore!
