If you have any family in the army, especially if they are active, you know you don’t get the gift of seeing them all the time. In fact, sometimes years can pass before you get to see your loved one again.
Sadly, that’s just the way it is while soldiers sacrifice everything to protect their country.
But there are times in life when you have to step up to the plate. Army soldiers know all too well what that means. And that’s exactly what one son did for his mother in the video below.
Cody Glasure’s mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. She attended a chemo teaching session to learn what she would be going through during the course of her treatment.
While there, a surgeon – complete with a face mask, hair cap, and scrubs – approached her and had a brief discussion with her. Mrs. Glasure was none the wiser, speaking with the supposed physician while others in the room giggled knowingly.
However, it wasn’t until the surgeon lowered his mask that Mrs. Glasure realized who she was speaking to. The masked “surgeon” was actually her Marine son!
That expression says it all, don’t you think? Within moments, she embraces her son in a tight, loving hug.
She hadn’t seen her son in almost two years. He wanted to surprise his mother at her chemo teaching before she began her fight against cancer.
“That was perfect,” one bystander in the video says.
Indeed, the moment is very sweet and heartwarming. This Marine not only had a duty to his country, but also a duty to his mother, who was probably scared but putting on a brave face for what she was going to endure.
It’s so nice to see that for a moment, all of her worries melted away at the sight of one of her beloved sons.
