In the face of obstacles, we must find new, innovative ways to succeed, making use of the tools at our disposal. Plan A doesn’t always work. But sometimes backup plans – or backup backup plans – will go the distance.

Some challenges are particularly discouraging, and sometimes a little out-of-the-box thinking’s necessary.

Marooned on a bed, this brilliant baby crafts a clever escape plan.

You see, Bed Baby’s found himself in a bit of a conundrum. He’s alone and struggling to get out of bed – a bed too tall for a toddler.

Unfortunately for him, babies are teeny-tiny. He’s simply not long enough to ensure a completely safe fall to the ground.

Baby probes the situation off the mattress, gauging the fall distance.

He quickly realizes that jumping or falling off the bed isn’t exactly the safest option. He just doesn’t want to risk it.

So what can be done? How can he exit the bed and ensure a safe landing?

Bed Baby assesses his surroundings, gauging his options.

Well, there’s hope yet.

He notices the pillows draped across the bed behind him.

He proceeds to grab one, using all his might to move it towards the edge of the bed.

It ain’t easy.

I wonder if the bed and pillows are memory foam? That might make mobility a little harder compared to a classic spring mattress. Speaking of which, sleep specialists like Kathy Gromer of the Minnesota Sleep Institute recommend using other types of sleeping materials in the presence of young children. She does admit, however, that memory foam may improve sleep.

Presumably one of the child’s parents adds some nuance in the video description,

“baby is learning! lol… he tries to get off the bed but it is too high so he throws down pillows for a safe landing so smart”

That’s a proud parent.

Slowly but surely, Bed Baby drags the heavy pillow to the edge of the bed. It’s literally larger than he is.

But Bed Baby cannot be stopped. He firmly believes that his hard work will pay off.

The first pillow falls softly to the ground. But that’s not enough.

Bed Baby looks around some more. There’s another pillow within arm’s reach.

Struggling yet again, Bed Baby nudges the pillow to the edge of the mattress. He’s going to be exhausted after all of this.

He pushes the pillow off the bed with both hands, using all his force.

Pillow Two lands atop the first. His landing pad’s almost complete.

But there’s more work to be done.

Bed Baby inches towards the remaining pillow, grabbing it firmly. He’s determined.

He makes his way to the bed’s outside perimeter yet again, pushing the pillow off the bed atop the others.

The landing pad’s good to go.

Bed Baby’s ready for initial descent.

He turns his body and slides towards the edge of the bed.

One foot at a time.

Mission complete.

I’m both inspired and in awe. Although seemingly trivial, Bed Baby’s transition from bed to floor speaks a lot to his mindset.

For one, he’s definitely a hard worker… and perhaps an innovator.

In the face of adversity, Bed Baby kept his cool and formulated a plan. He proceeded to use the tools available to him to ensure the completion of his goal. These are characteristics that will serve him well in life.

He might be a teeny-tiny baby genius.
