Did you know that your skin is actually an organ? Not only that, but it’s the largest organ your body has!
Have you ever wondered how some people’s skin looks young, healthy, and vibrant even into old age?
Although some are blessed with naturally healthy skin, others have to work hard at it.
Chances are, that ageless beauty you’re admiring is a result of a quality skin-care regimen, and they probably started in their teens.
The good news is that it’s never too late to start taking proper care of your skin and get the healthy glow you desire, and we are going to tell you how.
As we age in life, it becomes increasingly important to adhere to good skin-care practices.
This is because over time our bodies go through multiple hormonal changes, and our production of collagen, the protein that makes your skin appear supple, starts to slow down.
Fortunately, with the right treatment, we can slow this process down drastically and keep our skin looking young.
From your teens and early 20’s, it’s vital to cleanse your skin daily.
If you aren’t in your teens anymore, it’s still a good idea to cleanse every day if you haven’t been already. Loosening up the dirt and buildup in your pores will still have a youthening effect on your skin.
While there is a plethora of product for face wash on the market, the best practice is to simply wash with clean, hot water to open up your pores, toner to clean, and ice to seal the pores back up.
As you move from your teens into your 20’s and 30’s, your body has already gone through several hormonal shifts.
These “shifts” wreak havoc on your skin and body, and in order to keep up, your skin completely renews itself every 28 days, according to skin care website LifeCell.
It does this by regenerating new cells constantly, so for every single minute that passes, 30,000 skin cells die. That’s 43,200,000 skin dead skin cells per 24 hours!
This means two things:
- You need to eat healthy and nutritious foods so your skin has the vitamins and minerals it needs to regenerate.
- You must exfoliate your skin every single day to get rid of those skin cells and prevent harmful buildup.
Let me just say, you are already beautiful and you DO NOT need makeup.
That being said, old habits die hard and if you insist on using the toxic stuff, make sure to remove all of it before you go to sleep at night.
Makeup is composed of harsh chemicals that dry out your skin and clog your pores. When you combine that with the sweat, dirt, and bacteria that daily assaults us, your skin lets you know with acne, oil, and swelling.
So no matter how tired you are, remove it.
Once you’ve gone from your 30’s into your 40’s, if you aren’t taking proper care of your skin you will start to see more blemishes.
In addition to this, you may still be getting acne and have an uneven skin tone on top of it, making you feel like a hot mess.
This is a good time to get downright religious with your regimen.
In addition to everything mentioned above, you should also start taking extra measures to keep your skin moisturized.
Another step to prevent that uneven tone is to start applying sunscreen frequently. Like, every few hours if you’re out in the sun.
While we need sunlight exposure for vitamin D production, too much sun can make your skin look tough and leathery in spots, and really make those wrinkles stand out.
Not only that, but it can also lead to more serious conditions such as skin cancer, so do yourself a favor and bust out the SPF 50!
Once you’re in your 50’s, your wrinkles will become more pronounced and your skin will dry out much faster.
You can combat this by using top-quality skin moisturizers and treating yourself to weekly facials.
This doesn’t mean spending all your money at a retreat, though it can be a wonderful way to relax. There are plenty of products you probably have right at home to give your skin a nice boost.
If you are looking for some natural at-home skin care treatments look no further than your kitchen!

Steam is one of the absolute BEST ways to clean your skin.
The heat from the steam opens your pores allowing it to penetrate deeply enough to remove any remaining dirt or grime left after your morning cleanse. It also causes you to sweat and detoxify your skin of any impurities.
Honey makes a wonderful moisturizer that also tightens your pores, and egg whites work as a natural facelift!
Out of all these effective practices, there is one that will do more than all the rest; LAUGH! ♥
