We’re faced with a lot of challenges in life, and unfortunately, they don’t really seem to go away as we get older. There is always something we are going to have to face. What really matters is how we choose to deal with it. We can either give up and feel sorry for ourselves, or we can find new and exciting ways to make it work.
This mother is a perfect example of the latter option.
Liza is a single mother who gave a full tour of her tiny house to Exploring Alternatives. And while it may be a small space, it can actually sleep 9 people.
A lot of regular-sized houses don’t even offer enough space for 9 people, so that’s very impressive!
Her home features a day bed in the living room, double bunk bed in the bedroom, and king and queen-sized lofts. The bathroom is pretty amazing too — with a big shower and full vanity. It’s much more spacious than you would expect.
As for the kitchen, there are some more interesting features, like a dining bar as well as plenty of counter space. Liza is also equipped with a fridge, oven, and stove so she can prep and cook whatever food she wants, just like she would in an average-sized home.
She even has a washer and dryer in there.
Needless to say, Liza took this small space and really made it stylish and modern but even more importantly, functional. She’s not without anything you’d find in any other regular house. She was in a tight situation but she ended up making it work and ended up with something better than she could have ever imagined.
The house is named Magnolia, after her mother’s favorite tree.
Magnolia (the house) was designed and built by Oliver and Cera from Summit Tiny Homes in Vernon, Canada. Liza purchased a lot to park Magnolia on at an RV resort, since the house is certified as an RV.
The single mom was in a longterm mindset when it came to designing this beautiful space, and made it so that the floor plan can be changed when needed, later on in life.
Liza is in this place for the long haul. When she was thinking of how to design it, she wanted to make it so that she could stay there throughout her life, up until when she retires. The bunk beds can be rearranged so that she doesn’t have to do as much climbing when she is older.
There ain’t nothing wrong with a reason to get a little more fresh air!
When she has children over, she limits the amount of toys they can bring. She likes to keep the house pretty clean and organized, and she prefers the children to be playing outside anyway, with the cute little toys and decorations she has there.
Liza was so detail-oriented when creating this home and really took every little thing into consideration.
She also made sure that her girls’ room had lots of windows and natural light, because she understands that bunk beds can, “feel a little cramped.”
“I wanted to have something permanent,” Liza said. “I wanted to have something that was mine.”
Another huge perk of this place is the proximity to the lake. It’s just about a two minute walk from their place, so Liza and her kids will pack up a lunch and take it down to the water for a picnic.
This honestly seems pretty perfect!
