A single dad, who has the biggest heart in the world, has just adopted five young siblings. Separated for over a year, the siblings deserved to be together and that was the goal of Lamont Thomas. He lives in Buffalo, New York and has been a foster parent to over 30 children over the past 19 years. And now, he has moved into another unique phase in his life after he adopted five sibling children under the age of five.

Five siblings under the age of five were adopted by a single dad, Lamont Thomas.

Five very young siblings were placed in foster care and after Lamont Thomas learned that they were the children of one of the kids he had fostered many years ago, he wanted to help. The siblings had been separated for over a year and a half and were in foster homes in four different cities. So, coming “out of retirement”, Lamont got recertified to be a foster parent again with the intent to adopt the children: five-year-old Zendaya, four-year-old Jamel, three-year-old Nakia, two-year-old Major, and one-year-old Michaela. On October 17, 2019, Lamont Thomas became a father again in a courtroom and was emotional when he adopted them two years after taking them into foster care.

He told Good Morning America, “I was fighting to keep back the tears. Every day I think about it, my eyes swell up. All that we endured to make this happen, it was something.”

Lamont Thomas has been fostering children since 2000.

Since 2000, Lamont has fostered over thirty children and has given them all a loving and caring home. Many of them he adopted, but he said originally, he did not see his life panning out this way.

“In the beginning, I was helping out some friends. They had lost their child to the system. I went on and got certified and became a foster parent. I haven’t stopped since,” explained Lamont.

Many of them are grown and could not be more proud of or thankful for their caring father. Lamont’s other children, most of whom are grown and many have children of their own, describe their father as one they look up to. Lamont has two biological children, Anthony, and LaMonica who are joined by Lamont’s other adopted children: Germayne, Tremayne, Jamie, and German.

His 27-year-old daughter, LaMonica said, “He does anything for everybody. He’s a really great man.”

He has a heart full of love to share.

Lamont Thomas is described by his other children as one who “never turned a child away”. He has an abundance of love and has given so many children a gift of a comforting and loving home. While his newly adopted kids will keep his hands full, he is looking forward to the future of raising them together.

Lamont explains, “They bring new energy to me. They’re lovable kids, very affectionate. They deserve to be raised as siblings, and that was my fight.”
