There is no one more supportive of a girl’s dreams than her father. Dads will do anything for their little girls, and this man truly stands out among the rest. His extreme dedication to helping her reach her goals is sure to warm your heart.
Martin and Faye are no ordinary father-daughter duo; they are both incredibly talented singers. Martin has been singing opera for his entire life, and it has even become a profession for him. When he learned that his ten-year-old daughter had a talent of her own, he knew he had to share it with the world.
Faye could sing opera beautifully – a rare talent for a girl so young. Thinking quickly, the two decided to audition together for Britain’s Got Talent. They showed up as a duet, and the judges were noticeably confused.
As they took the stage, Martin and Faye introduced themselves. The audience couldn’t help but wonder if this tiny little girl and her larger, older dad truly had compatible voices.
Auditioning as a duet is hard for any duo because there are many more factors for the judges to consider. In this position it is not just about each individual singer’s talent; the two need to sound good together in order to move on to the next round. Could these two people of vastly different frames really rise to the occasion?
One judge was obviously doubtful. Simon Cowell did next to nothing to hide the confused look on his face. This man is known for his harsh criticism, and it can’t have been easy for Faye to perform while he had that look on his face. Still, the young singer set out to change the judge’s mind.
As she opened her mouth, an angelic voice poured out. This little girl mastered the complex notes of the beautiful song. No one in the room could believe that such a melodic sound was coming from someone so young.
Faye had proven herself, but now it was her father’s turn. Even though the girl’s performance was stunning, the outcome of the audition rested in her father’s hands. If he didn’t perform up to expectation, it would all be over.
Martin performed amazingly as well. Most astounding was the exquisite harmony that resulted from the two singers joining together. No one could have guessed that their voices would blend so wonderfully. When the song was over, it was time for the moment of truth.
Since Simon’s expression had been so noticeable during the performance, the two singers waited anxiously to hear what he had to say. When Simon suggested that it may not be the best idea for the two to audition together, Faye’s father said something shocking.
“If you put her through, I’ll go,” Martin told the judge in a selfless attempt to show his daughter support. Everyone was surprised that this man would give up his dream so that his daughter could take the reins.
Fortunately, that action wasn’t necessary. Simon gave his approval to the duet, as did the other judges. This dad-daughter duo was on the road to stardom, and the best part was that they could stay together.
Martin’s willingness to back out of the competition to give his daughter her best chance exemplifies the selflessness that all parents should strive for. There is nothing more admirable than being willing to put your child first.
