A war is a brewin’ in Texas, but it isn’t about open carry gun laws or abortion or anything else political that will give you indigestion. This war is personal. It’s also downright hilarious.
It all started when the Pure Water Ice & Tea company in Lubbock, Texas offered up some free drinks to Texas Tech’s Head Football Coach Kliff Kingsbury, according to Wide Open Country.
The Wendy’s across the street put up a sign of their own saying, “Hey Kliff, hungry and thirsty? We got you.”
Pure Water Ice & Tea began the feud with talking some serious ish about the Wendy’s across the street via their sign. Kyler Smith, Assistant Manager at Pure Water Tea Ice & Tea Company, told KCBD that he’s been trying to provoke Wendy’s for a while to no avail.
They were able to finally start the venomous feud with this sign:
“I didn’t expect them to react the way they did, and then when they did I was like, you know what? It’s on,” Wendy’s General Manager Santos Perez told KCBD.
That’s when sh*t got real and Wendy’s shot back with this.
Wendy’s didn’t stop there, and was intent on starting some “beef.”
That’s when Smith decided he needed to step up his sign war game and would even hold meetings with staff in order to craft the perfect comeback. Smith fired back, and he was happy to start some “beef” with Wendy’s.
The war of words continued, much to the delight of the Internet.
Wendy’s claimed they could brew better tea than Pure Water.
But Pure Water wasn’t having it…
It actually wound up getting pretty nasty. The two store owners haven’t exchanged any words or made any attempt to work out their differences unless you’re counting the signs.
Wendy’s took the cake with the wittiest insult yet…
And Pure Water couldn’t help but insult Wendy’s sign game.
Apparently, the store managers haven’t spoken:
“We haven’t talked at all, just through the signs,” said Perez. “I was actually going to change it this morning then I saw theirs and I thought I definitely gotta change it this morning.”
No one is quite sure when or how this feud will end.
“Until one of us can’t think of something,” Smith guessed.
Wendy’s says peace lies in the hands of their sworn sign enemy.
“Til they stop I guess,” Perez said.
Both agree that the feud could possibly end when Kingsbury finally chooses a side.
“He still hasn’t come in, so Kingsbury, come inside,” said Smith.
“Hey Kliff man, come see us, we’re waiting on you!” said Perez.
